Introduction:

Did you know there are about 80 personal benefits for your life listed in the Bible that are available because of what Jesus did on Easter? This is life-changing news
What does His resurrection mean? Why does it matter? It means three things: (1) Jesus is who he claimed to be; (2) Jesus has the power he claimed to have; and (3) Jesus did what he promised to do.

1. What does Jesus’ resurrection mean?

It means three things: (1) Jesus is who he claimed to be; (2) Jesus has the power he claimed to have; and (3) Jesus did what he promised to do.

I. The resurrection means Jesus is who he claimed to be. (; ;)

(ESV)
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
(ESV)
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

II. The resurrection means Jesus has the power he claimed to have. ()

(ESV)
18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”

III. The resurrection means Jesus did what he promised to do. ()

(ESV)
34 And they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And after three days he will rise.”
2. Why does Jesus’ resurrection matter?
Why does the resurrection matter? What difference does it make? It matters for three reasons. (1.) Because Jesus is who he claimed to be, (2.) Because Jesus has the power he claimed to have, and (3.) Jesus does what he promises to do.
IV. The resurrection matters because my past can be forgiven. ()
(ESV)
13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.[1]
(NLT)
13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.
V. The resurrection matters because my present problems can be managed. ()
(ESV)
and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, “
VI. The resurrection matters because my future can be secure. ()
(ESV)
3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
Conclusion
Easter can make a difference in your life if you trust, follow, and have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
That's the difference Easter can make. Understanding why Easter happened—why Christ rose from the dead—is not enough. You've got to do something about it. You've got to take some action steps. Understanding what I've just talked about is not enough to get you into heaven. You've got to accept it and act on it. You need to say to God, "God, I'm scrapping Plan A. I know I'll never earn my way to heaven. I know I never can be good enough. I've already blown it enough times to know I'm not going to make the 100 percent thing. So I'm asking you to work Plan B in my life. Jesus Christ, I want to trust you, follow you, get to know you and have a relationship." That's how you do it. That's how Easter can make a difference in your life.
