You will die in your sin!

There are some pretty impressive sastictics that are available and yet most times some people will argure over sastictics.
but this one sastic can not be disputed.
1 out of every 1 will die!
No one wants to die, no one welcomes death, but it will come unless Jesus returns for His Church and you are a part of it!
You will die in your sin, this is the statement that Jesus made to the releigious leaders in .
John 8:21 ESV
So he said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
in verses 13-20 we seen in our last study together in chapter 8 that the releigious leaders tried to discredit Jesus by useing His testimony against Him saying it was only on the count of two or three wittnesses that one should be beleived.
but then in verse 19
John 8:20 ESV
These words he spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple; but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.
John 8:19 ESV
They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”
in verse 21
John 8:21 ESV
So he said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
Jesus siad to them
I am going away
You will seek me
and
you will not find me,
you will die in your sin
Where I am going, you cannot come!
Here in this verse, Jesus has said 5 very profound statements.
now we know the religious leaders seek to take custody of Jesus, they are just waiting for the right time, they want to kill kim.
Jesus tells them, you will seek me and you will not fine me!
This sounds like some harsh words from our Lord here, after all we know that Jesus didnt come to judge but soley to seek and to save the lost, but here He is saying to the releigious leaders that they would not find Him when they sought after Him after He has left, oh they would be seeking Him, but Jesus knew they would not find Him.
This was a true statement for the Jewish leaders of that day and could be a true statement for many of this day as well.
I am reminded of Jerm. 29:11-14
Jeremiah 29:11–14 ESV
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.
I am also reminded of and :
1 Peter 5:5 ESV
Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
1 p
James 4:6 ESV
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
James
God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
So many times people come to church, they want to come to the Lord, not to have their hearts changed but only wanting something from Him,
They want their circumstance to be changed.
To be made well, to fix there marriage, to get a job, a promotion at work.
to break a bad habit, the reasons can be many, but the point is the same in many cases,
a lot of people seek after Jesus for what He can do for them, He is their rescue guy you could say.
Something bad is going to happen unless God does something for me, then as soon as they get out of their fix its right back to the same ole same ole ways.
Some will say well at least they came and were seeking after Jesus.
I will tell you that they never had a encounter with Jesus because no one has ever ever had a encounter with Jesus and went away the same person as before.
When a person comes seeking after Jesus for the wrong reason, I beleive that Jesus just says thats far enough, He opposes the proud.
But yet when a person humbles them selves before the Lord, He embraces them! He Touches them and no one has ever been touched by Jesus and leaves the same person!
In Jerm. 29:12-13
Jeremiah 29:12–13 ESV
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
Jer 29
when you call upon me
when you pray to me
when you seek me with all of your heart, this is when a person finds the Lord.
John 8:21 ESV
So he said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
The religious leaders were going to be seeking Jesus for the wrong reason, with the wrong motive, and for this reason they wouldnt find Him.
In fact Jesus even told them that they would die in their sin!
For where He was going they could not come!
this was the second time Jesus had made this statment to them, where I am going you cannot come.
And I left one thing out, another reason they woudnt find Jesus because He was going to the Father.
The olny way they would get to Jesus was to go to the Father in Heaven, But yet Jesus has said that the only way to the Father was through Him!
John 7:34 ESV
You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come.”
In other words, you will spend the rest of your life seeking me, and you will die in your sin, for where I am going, you cannot come!
I want to point something out to you here,
Look at the word sin, Jesus said they would die in their sin, its in the singular. meaning it was only due to one sin that would bring about death to them,
death being definded as seperation from the Father.
also being defined as physical death, because they would die physicaly before they would find Him, meaning they would never find Him!
This verse should bother every born again believer of Christ, people will die in their sin! The sin of unbeleife of Jesus of who He is,
2 cor 520
2 Corinthians 5:20 ESV
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Paul tells us that we are ambassadors for Christ! and that God is making His appeal through us! We Implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God!
God making His appeal through us,
The word appeal in the greak is parakleo, It means to come along side of one, to pray for them, God wants us to come along aside of people, telling them and showing them Jesus, so they may be reconciled to God.
We implore you, implore is a word that means we are begging you to do this. On the behalf of Christ!
People will die in their sin. Does this bother you?
Does it bother you enough to do something about it?
John 8:21 ESV
So he said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
now this statement blew the minds of the Jewish leaders,
John 8:22 ESV
So the Jews said, “Will he kill himself, since he says, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come’?”
The Jews thought that Jesus was meaning that He was going to kill Himself and a sa result he would go to the deepest place in hell.
The Jews believed that whenever a person took their own life it meant automatic hell, in fact they believed that it was a special place deep in hell for such people.
I would like to add here, Jesus said they would die in their sin, not sins in verse 21, that sin was singular meaning one sin, not believing in who jesus was. The Great I Am!
I have been asked many times about what happened to ones spirit if they had taken their own life,
I will tell you it does not , Does NOt mean automatic Hell!
I ask this one question, for which sin did Jesus not die for?
It was not believing on Him as the Son of God, The Great I Am
The only sin that is automatic hell is no belief in Jesus.
The Jews thought this must have meant taking His own life because Jesus had said they could not come where He was going.
The Jewish Leaders as reliegious as they were surley wasnt going to hell they thought.
They would consider Jesus going to hell over themselves.
This is only a result of religion.
how did Jesus respond to them as they thought He was saying that He was going to take His own life, vs 23
vs 23
John 8:23 ESV
He said to them, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.
Jesus makes a clear distinction between Himself and them,
here Jesus confirms the location of heaven and hell.
You are from below, from hell itself.
you are from hell,
Jesus said He was from above, meaning heaven.
Jesus said you are of this world,
The Greek word here for world is Kosmos, it has the meaning of arrangement in a ordly fasion, to make beautiful, its actually where we get the english word cosmetics from.
Its making reference to the organized satanic beliefs that opposes and exalts itself above all that is Godly.
2 Corinthians 10:5 ESV
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
John 12:31 ESV
Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.
1 John 2:15–17 ESV
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
all of this being from the world comes down to this, the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life.
Jesus finished this verse with this statement, I am not of this world!
Romans 12:2 ESV
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Do Not be conformed to this world.
Oh we are in this world, but we are not of this world,
There are a lot of people who call themselves Christians who are of this world. They have allowed themselves to be conformed to this world.
A person cant have the love for the world and for God.
They will have no desire for the word of God, or for the lost!
What will be the result is no more than organized religion.
John 8:24 ESV
I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”
I told you that you would die in your sins, notice this word sins is different from verse 21, the word sins here is in the plaural form, meaning many sins.
in verse 21 the sin is not believing that I Am he, this will result in sins meaning plural.
Not believing in Jesus a sin, will lead to a person committing many other sins plural.
If you dont believe Jesus who He says He is you will commit sins.
A person who is a beleiver and is living anxiously awaiting the return of Jesus, oh they will live their life completly differently that before Jesus.
But a person who dosent beleive this will allow a person to live life any way they like.
Exodus 3:14 ESV
God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ”
Jesus said unless you beleive that I Am, you will die in your sins.
Jesus is telling the Jewish leaders, I AM the same I Am that spoke to Moses from the burning bush. I Am who I Am!
John 8:25 ESV
So they said to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been telling you from the beginning.
Who Are You??
Who do you think you are?? !!!
Just what I have been trying to tell you from the beggining,
I Told you in
John 6:35 ESV
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
John 7:37 ESV
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.
Jn
Jn
If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me a drink, I Am the true Living Water.
John 8:12 ESV
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Jesus has been telling them from the beggining as to who He is, The Great I Am
John 8:26 ESV
I have much to say about you and much to judge, but he who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him.”
Jesus is saying, their is a lot of things I could say and judge you on,
Notice here that Jesus knows when to speak and not to say,
But I am speaking only what the Father has told me to speak.
I have heard a lot of Christians speak a lot of things that I know did not come from the Father!
May we speak only speak those things of the Father that is pleasing to Him!
Ask people, who do you say Jesus is? this will be a very easy question in the up coming week as we are coming up on Easter.
2 Corinthians 5:20 ESV
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Invite people to church next week with you, bring them with you.
John 8:21 ESV
So he said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
People will die in their sin!
Who you say who Jesus is has eternal consequences!
being right as to who Jesus is has a eternal reward,
being wrong about who Jesus is has a eternal consequences.
Jesus said I Am The Great I AM!
