“Living a Life of Spiritual Adventure”
(AMP)
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Intro:
Celtic Christians named the Holy Spirit “The wild Goose” and its implication seems almost blasphemous.
The name does give a hint towards the mysterious nature of the Holy Spirit.
Walking in the spirit can sometimes be much like a “wild goose chase.”
“There is An element of danger and an air of unpredictability that surrounds Him.”
Read: again.
A “wild goose chase” typically refers to a Hopeless cause or Lost cause”
BUT, “Chasing the Wild Goose is different.
The promptings of the Holy Spirit can sometimes seem pretty pointless, but rest assured, God is working His plan.”
I don’t know anyone who hasn’t stressed out over trying to figure out the mystery of God’s will.
Our intellectual analyst (Left Brain our logic Vs. Right brain our imagination) can bring us spiritual paralysis.
EX: We want to solve the mystery of God’s will like it’s a crossword puzzle but God’s will can’t be analyzed and is simply confusing and complicated.
Shut doors most of the time is God leading you into his will.
Mark Batterson.states: “nothing is more unnerving or disorienting than passionately pursuing God.”
Feeling like something is wrong is called… “circumstantial uncertainty”
which is defined as “Adventure.”
The sooner you understand this the more you will enjoy the Journey and
I promise you this…
The “Wild Goose Chase” will never be boring.
1. Out of Eden comes Adam’s adventure.
And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
My wife and I have traveled to places that looked like the Garden of Eden.
Last year we went to the cenote in Mexico, by the Myan ruins. My wife had her wheel chair but it was still adventures. but I think the biggest adrenaline rushes I remember were the wild animals we would see or the striking vistas of the earth’s beauty after a day’s hike.
My wife would plan our long adventures secretly…

a. God brought wild animals to him to see what he would call them. (what an adventure God and Adam) And of course we can’t forget that God did surgery and brought him “Woman.”
b. In (gen 2:22) Yahweh “Had Taken” from Man.
I looked into the sense of the hebrew meaning of “Had Taken”
It means: To take away or remove from a certain place of environment or emotional state; it involves a transport or a new location.
Our emotional stability, our environment and stability in our lives, is formed in our oneness!
c. Yahweh “Brought” the Hebrew: To “Gather”
to “lead her”
As a father leads the bride, He is so proud of her and her beauty was and adrenalin rush in that adventure!
2. Taking the Holy Spirit out of the equation=

a. It’s called “inverted christianity” witch means

They had “power” because they had all things in common.

3. Caged Christianity.
Once you have visited wild animals in there
“Un-civilized.” “Un-tamed.” Un-caged, natural habitat, the Zoo (Church) is boring.

“I wonder if churches do to people what zoos do to animals.”

1. “We try to remove the risk. We try to remove the danger. We try to remove the struggle.

2. must have Predictability and caged people are unsatisfied
So what we end up with is a “caged Christian.”
The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
3. He was caged but comfortable.
a. The young man had a longing in his soul,
“many, if not most, Christians are bored with their faith.”
Many are settling on spiritual mediocrity. He accepted the cage.
b. Jesus challenged the man to adventures that would challenge his growth and fulfill his longing to come out of his cage.
c. Sometimes we feel bad for him.
But what Jesus had for his future was worth so much more than this world could give!
He missed out on the miracles of Jesus!
EX: He walked on water, he turned the water to wine, then fed thousands with a kids meal, healed the blind etc etc
Some are satisfied with the wild goose chase, that ends in a LOST cause, but those whose chase the Goose (HG) will experience spiritual adventures.
4. Jesus died so he could make us dangerous!
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
The word “Power” = dynamis in the Greek
sense: Possession of controlling influence, often Understood as a manifesting influence over reality in a supernatural manner.

“ I am sending dangerous people back into their natural habitat to take possession Enemy.”
b. ADAM had Dominion and lost it, the gate was protected by an angel.
But just like the high priest of the old testament went into the gate of the tabernacle.
So did Jesus through the cross.
c. Then Jesus said to Peter, what you bind is bound.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
The sooner we come to understand we are a chosen priest of God, growing will be anything but boring!
acts 17:6 said they turned the world upside down
One more verse then conclude
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
conclusion:
“This sermon is about more than you and me experiencing spiritual adventure.
In fact, this sermon is not about you at all.
It's a book about the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who wants to write His-story through your life”
“ The Wild Goose Chase” is an invitation to be part of something that is bigger than you and more important than you.
