Setting the Sermon
I am often challenged when it comes to Sundays that are particular.
No where in Scripture are we commanded to recognize particular days so for one to recognize them it is not a Biblical command.

We also do not have commands to meet on Sunday - why do we do that?
It is because of the resurrection of Christ.
While we cannot find a command to recognize Easter there is much we do that does not have overt commands to do
Some is a result of tradition
Some is a result of practical benefit
I would consider recognizing Easter to certainly fall into tradition and also having practical benefit.
Does it have concerns of being linked to Pagan holidays?
Absolutely.
So we should not consider it an act of compulsion, nor do I prefer to recognize Easter as the origins of Easter are pagan.
I do recognize the resurrection of Christ every Sunday; and to have a special focus on that resurrection is not wrong and it is actually of great benefit as it does cause us to recognize what is the stamp of approval by the Father of the sacrifice of the Son.
I do preach on this day with concern that I do not make it into something more than it ought to be and you should be similarly fearful.
