Last week we started reading through the book of Hebrews.
Just a short refresher.
We don't know exactly who wrote this letter but it has been accepted by the church from early on.
My money is on Barnabas but we'll have to wait and see.
It was likely written by someone who did not know Jesus face to face.
We'll get to that later today.
We spent last week basically going over only the first four verses but finding deep theological truths in them.
God has spoken to His people and through His people at various times and various ways in the past and in these end times, God has spoken finally through His Son, our Lord Jesus.
Jesus has been appointed heir over all things.
All things were created through Him and for Him.
Jesus is the brightness of God's glory.
Jesus is the express image of God.
Jesus upholds all things by the power of His word (Rhema).
Jesus alone purged our sins (washed off).
Jesus now sits at the right hand (second in command) of the Father and intercedes for us.
Jesus has become more than the angels.
We left off there talking about the angels being ministering spirits to those who will inherit salvation.
This is where we will pick up today and continue through chapter two of Hebrews.
Before we read into chapter 2, let's look a little further into the angels and their position because it becomes relevant here shortly.
, Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

Angels are to be ministering spirits.
They are to carry out the orders of God and to minister to the believers and to assist them as God sees fit.
This brings us to some points that I want to cover.
First, we don't control angels.
They don't WORK for us, they work FOR us.
We do not command nor do we ask angels for help and we CERTAINLY do not pray to angels (or anyone else, saints, Mary, for that matter).
I would challenge you to find a verse in the Word that says that we should command angels.
I haven't found one yet.
But I do have other verses that tell us what we should do.
I would rather stick with what I am told by God for sure to do than to try to read something into a verse that may not be there, especially if there is no need for it.
God created the angels, and Jesus is greater than the angels.
So, let's start with that and say that we should stick with asking God in the name of Jesus for what we want and let Him do the angel dispatching as He sees fit instead of us.
