Evil always tries to hide itself. It even tries to hide itself from our very selves. It will go to almost any lengths so as not to be discovered. We become evil by attempting to hide from ourselves the evil we do .The wickedness of evil is not committed directly but indirectly as part of this cover up process. Evil originates not in the absence of guilt but in the effort to escape it.

It is the sense of personnel sin that keeps our sin from getting out of hand .This is our one safe guard. St Theresa put it so nicely in her gentle way. She said if you are willing to serenely bear   the trial of being displeasing to yourself ,then you will be for Jesus a pleasant place of shelter. We are not created evil or forced to be evil but we may become evil over time through a long     series of choices .People may be in the process of sliding into evil ,whereas others have already slid and fallen victim to and been taken over by evil, radical evil.

Remember Satan’s name is the father of lies .Evil people are his children and are therefore children of the lie. Deceiving others and building up layer and layer of self deception. The Pharisees the case in point .Pride is the lies we tell ourselves .Humility is simply the truth about ourselves.
