Sermon Tone Analysis

The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.

The righteous eat to their hearts’ content, but the stomach of the wicked goes hungry.

What the wicked dread will overtake them; what the righteous desire will be granted

#Point 1: The righteous get what they need/want.

The wicked do not.

In fact the wicked get what they do not want.

No harm overtakes the righteous, but the wicked have their fill of trouble

The righteous person is rescued from trouble and it falls on the wicked instead.

#Point 2: The righteous are free from troubles, the wicked life is full of troubles

A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.

Whoever increases wealth by taking interest or profit from the poor amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor

#Point 3: The righteous are rich, the wicked are ruined

Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honour.

Evildoers will bow down in the presence of the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous

# Point 4: The righteous are honoured, the wicked are humbled

Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness

The fear of the Lord adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short

# Point 5: The righteous live long, the wicked die young

Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord

There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: the righteous get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked who get what the righteous deserve.

This too, I say, is meaningless.

In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these: the righteous perishing in their righteousness, and the wicked living long in their wickedness.

Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one.

25 Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, 26 I have been constantly on the move.

I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers.

27 I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked.

32 And what more shall I say?

I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, 33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.

35 Women received back their dead, raised to life again.

There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released so that they might gain an even better resurrection.

36 Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment.

37 They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword.

They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated—38 the world was not worthy of them.

They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground.

39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised.

(NLT) Too much talk leads to sin.

Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.

(Guess I should just shut up now).

Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven.

He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.

2 Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? 3 I tell you, no!

But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?

5 I tell you, no!

But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

Who can say, "I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin"?

Do not fret because of evildoers or be envious of the wicked, for the evildoer has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.
