Introduction
Bienvenido

We are going to take a close look at only a few verses in the beginning of the Gospel of John.
Any person can become a student of the Bible.
we are on the road to becoming good Bible students when we:
a) Observe the text - who, where, when, what......
b) Interpretation - when you’ve asked the four W questions, you then move on to the last question.....WHY.
what is the sense of the verses?
what did it mean for them?
c) Application - what does it mean for me?
A good source for interpreting the Bible is the Bible.....
as a student of the Bible its very common to use other verses in the Bible to help you understand and interpret what you are reading.
John is one of Jesus disciples and the author of this Book of the Bible.
He was known as the Apostle John
He had a father named Zebedee and a brother named James who was also a disciple of Jesus
Jesus had a name for these two brothers - Sons of Thunder
my family are a nick name kind of family......
Its a way that we show our love and affection for eachother....
do you guys have nicknames for the special people in your lives?
that is a really COOL name!
“ what did our teacher name you? “small stone.”
and you?
SONS OF THUNDER!
He was the author of four other books in the Bible including Apocalypse
It is believed that the very influential church in Ephesus was pastored by John some years after the church was planted.
The most important fact about John and this book that we are reading is that he was an EYE WITNESS of the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It is the most important because that is who this book is centered around.
Let’s look at the first two verses : En el principio era el Verbo, y el Verbo era con Dios, y el Verbo era Dios. 2 El era en el principio con Dios.
Immediately we get a sense of the who and the when question for our study.
The Gospel of Matthew starts with the genealogy of Jesus parents, and then moves to His birth.
The Gospel of Luke begins telling Jesus’ story at the conception of His cousin John the Baptist.
The Gospel of Mark tells none of those things but fast forwards to Jesus baptism and ministry.
But John’s Gospel takes us back to before there was time and space and planet earth.
At the beginning of all Time, Jesus - the Word - already existed.
it says HE was with God and He was God - He was in the beginning with God.
Lets take a look in the Old Testament in
Therefore who created everything?
though the word TRINITY is not mentioned in the Bible it clearly communicates to us that the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are all ONE GOD in three persons.
it is one of the most difficult doctrines of the Bible to understand and explain.
Over and over the Bible shows us that God is not one or the other but the ONE GOD is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
6 more times in the 1st chapter of Genesis it says “Entonces dijo Dios”
Therefore we know that in the first verses in The Gospel of John that not only is he speaking about Jesus but we get an understanding as to the reason he refers to Jesus as THE WORD.
We can observe many things from these verses....but I will just mention a few
First we can see that the the Word preexisted the entire universe.
Second, we can understand that Jesus is being referred to as The Word - this book is about Him and He is the Word - speaking everything into existence.
The majority of the Bible verses I have shared all point to this fact.
If this is true, then in our day and age who is the chief authority?
if this is true, then where do we find not only spiritual truth, but all truth?
John is showing us the true rank of Jesus to make clear the importance of His mission.
later on in this chapter John says this: Y el Verbo se hizo carne y habitó entre nosotros, y contemplamos su gloria, como la gloria del unigénito del Padre, lleno de gracia y de verdad.
