People without Christ can't look at life as temporary because for them this all there is.
But Lillian knew that this was just a stopping point.
That is why when she was hospitalized, she could say things like hard boiled eggs and nuts because she had the bigger picture in her mind.
She had her future in heaven with Christ in view.
