From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over. ( Matthew 26:14-16 ) (3) The Denial of Jesus by Peter When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Then Jesus told them, “ This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written : ‘ I will strike the shepherd , and the sheep of the flock will be scattered .’ ( Matthew26:30-31 ) Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.” “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “ this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times. ” But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same . ( Matthew26:33-35 ) The Bruised Jesus (4) Who Caused the Death of Jesus? (4) Who Caused the Death of Jesus? (4) Who Caused the Death of Jesus? And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me .” They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely Not I, Lord?” ( Matthew26 : 21-22 ) It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. ( Hebrews 6:4-6 ) Surely Not I, Lord ? (4) Who Caused the Death of Jesus? (4) Who Caused the Death of Jesus? (4) Who Caused the Death of Jesus? (4) Who Caused the Death of Jesus? All of us (4) Who Caused the Death of Jesus? (4) Who Caused the Death of Jesus? Yet it was the Lord ’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer. ( Isaiah 53:10 ) Yet it was the Lord ’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer. ( Isaiah 53:10 ) He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all. ( Rom 8:32 ) Jesus : No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father . ( John 10:18 ) Jesus : No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father . ( John 10:18 ) Peter :   Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen . ( Acts 4:27-28 ) Matthew 12:17-21 “Here is my servant whom I have chosen ,  the one I love, He will not quarrel or cry out ;  no one will hear his voice in the streets.   A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, Till he has brought justice through to victory. In his name the nations will put their hope .” Matthew 12:17-21 “Here is my servant whom I have chosen ,  the one I love, He will not quarrel or cry out ;  no one will hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, Till he has brought justice through to victory.
