Lk 8:40-56. Dan Kroon. Have you ever been at the edge? Have you ever been fed up with everything, ready to give-up, unable to go on? It can take significant events (like disease, despair or death) to bring us to that point. Or it can take such a high quantity of little things that we feel buried under them. But what we often see in the gospels is that Jesus meets people at the edge. When we're desperate or struggling or over it all, he offers his power and compassion; he gives the gift of faith; he calls us back from the edge. Even if that edge is death itself, Jesus rescues from it. So, in this second resurrection miracle, Jesus urges faith over fear. He says to Jairus: "Don’t be afraid; just believe." Words we can also take to heart; not being afraid of death, but believing that Jesus has all power over it.
