Introduction:
When have you needed help but didn’t ask?
Main Thought: Remember, You Need God's Help; Humbly Ask Him for It.
Sub-intro: Explain the Context
We’ve been studying the Psalter and have looked at the Psalmist’s Lament & Hope of Kingdom Restoration in Psalms 42-45 & Psalms 69-72.
In Psalm 42 and Psalm 69 we considered how the Psalmist was Delivered from Despair, maintaining hope in God and praying for deliverance from persecution.
In Psalm 43 and Psalm 70 we looked at how the Psalmist was Delivered from Danger as prayed for rescue and deliverance from his enemies.
Tonight, we consider further alongside Psalm 44 comparing Psalm 71 how the Psalmist is Delivered from Defeat.
Psalm 44 showed us some present defeats and past deliverances that the Psalmist intimately shared.
Now in Psalm 71, we see his further prayer to God, the Rock of Refuge.
