Philippians #6:

Timothy & Epaphroditus: A Priceless Pair

Text: Phil. 2:19-30

Thesis: To note some lessons from the lives of Timothy & Epaphroditus that are essential

              in any Christian’s life.

Introduction:

(1)   During his imprisonment, Paul was blessed to have many friends to support him, especially Timothy & Epaphroditus.

(2)   From these two dear friends of Paul, let us note some key aspects of their lives that we should all apply to our lives.

Discussion:

I.       First, this priceless pair had a servant’s heart.

A.    From verse 22, we learn that Timothy had been a constant servant with Paul in the work of the Lord.

B.     From verse 25, we learn that Epaphroditus was also a servant with Paul tending to Paul’s needs in prison.

II.    Second, this priceless pair had a selfless mindset.

A.    From verses 20-21, we learn that Timothy’s desire was that of the Lord’s work and not that of his own selfish desires.

B.     From verse 30, we learn that Epaphroditus’ desire to do the Lord’s work was more important than his own life.

III. Third, this priceless pair was steadfast in their work.

A.    From verse 22, we learn that Timothy had stayed with Paul all along the way.

B.     From verse 30, we learn that Epaphroditus was willing to see that the work got done regardless of the cost.

Conclusion:

(1)   This priceless pair truly applied the example of Christ (vv. 5-11) into their day to day lives.

(2)   Let us follow their example and be dedicated servants in the work of the Lord.
