Hebrews 10:25 GNB
Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer.
Why is Fellowship so Important?

1. Fellowship is Important Because I BELONG in God’s Family with Other Believers

Galatians 6:10 NIV84
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Ephesians 2:19 The Living Bible
Now you are no longer strangers to God and foreigners to heaven, but you are members of God’s very own family, citizens of God’s country, and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian.
Romans 12:5 NIV84
so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
"The Christian who is not committed to a group of other believers for praying, sharing, and serving, so that he is known, as he knows others, is not an obedient Christian. He is not in the will of God. However vocal he may be in his theology, he is not obeying the Lord." Dr.Ray Ortland

Fellowship is Important Because I Need ENCOURAGEMENT to Grow Spiritually.

Hebrews 10:24 NLT
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
Hebrews 10:24 GW
We must also consider how to encourage each other to show love and to do good things.
Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 GNB
Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone and falls, it’s just too bad, because there is no one to help him. If it is cold, two can sleep together and stay warm, but how can you keep warm by yourself? Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone. A rope made of three cords is hard to break.

3. Fellowship is Important Because I need ACCOUNTABILITY to Grow Spiritually

Proverbs 27:17 GNB
People learn from one another, just as iron sharpens iron.
Hebrews 3:13 The Living Bible
Speak to each other about these things every day while there is still time so that none of you will become hardened against God, being blinded by the glamor of sin.
Galatians 6:1–2 NIV84
Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

4. Fellowship is Important Because CHRIST IS PRESENT When we Fellowship Together.

Matthew 18:20 GNB
For where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them.”

5. Fellowship is Important Because There is GREAT POWER When People Pray Together.

Matthew 18:19 GNB
“And I tell you more: whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.

Fellowship Is Important Because I am OBLIGATED to Ever Christian.

1 Peter 4:10 The Living Bible
God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings.
1 Corinthians 12:5 The Living Bible
There are different kinds of service to God, but it is the same Lord we are serving.
1 Corinthians 12:27 The Living Bible
Now here is what I am trying to say: All of you together are the one body of Christ, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it.

One Another's of Fellowship

Serve One Another
Galatians 5:13 NLT
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
Accept One Another
Romans 15:7 NIV84
Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
Forgive One Another
Colossians 3:13 NLT
Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
Greet One Another
Romans 16:16 NIV84
Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ send greetings.
Carry One Another’s Burdens
Galatians 6:2 GNB
Help to carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will obey the law of Christ.
Be Devoted to One Another & Honor One Another
Romans 12:10 NIV84
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Teach One Another
Romans 15:4 NLT
Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
Submit to One Another
Ephesians 5:21 NLT
And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Encourage One Another
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

How Can the Church Maintain Close Friendships?

Every Member Needs to be Part of a Small Group

Acts 5:42 NLT
And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: “Jesus is the Messiah.”

There are two Types of Church Meetings

Large Group Meetings - Church Service

Small Group Meetings - Connect Group & Fellowship

Romans 16:3–5 NLT
Give my greetings to Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in the ministry of Christ Jesus. In fact, they once risked their lives for me. I am thankful to them, and so are all the Gentile churches. Also give my greetings to the church that meets in their home. Greet my dear friend Epenetus. He was the first person from the province of Asia to become a follower of Christ.
Acts 8:3 NLT
But Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church. He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison.

What’s the Purpose of Small Groups?

Acts 2:41–47 GNB
Many of them believed his message and were baptized, and about 3,000 people were added to the group that day. They spent their time in learning from the apostles, taking part in the fellowship, and sharing in the fellowship meals and the prayers. Many miracles and wonders were being done through the apostles, and everyone was filled with awe. All the believers continued together in close fellowship and shared their belongings with one another. They would sell their property and possessions, and distribute the money among all, according to what each one needed. Day after day they met as a group in the Temple, and they had their meals together in their homes, eating with glad and humble hearts, praising God, and enjoying the good will of all the people. And every day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved.

4. Prayer

Matthew 6:9–13 NLT
Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

5. Support

Philippians 4:15 NLT
As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.
Philippians 4:15 The Living Bible
As you well know, when I first brought the Gospel to you and then went on my way, leaving Macedonia, only you Philippians became my partners in giving and receiving. No other church did this.

6. Social

Romans 12:13 The Living Bible
When God’s children are in need, you be the one to help them out. And get into the habit of inviting guests home for dinner or, if they need lodging, for the night.
