*ISRAEL**’S FUTURE RESTORATION…………..**Rom.**

        Contrast that with students who enter University of Al Azhar in Cairo, Egypt…

Guess our system is doing good job of “dumbing down” population in America…

Paul was a smart man who could speak with authority before any audience…

Chap.

Eleven of Romans is one of my favorite (really all are)…

Paul’s message in chapter 9 thru 11 has been about the “Vindication of God’s righteousness & Israel’s future restoration.”

Paul lived in time…Israel nothing, nobody…they scattered all over world…

But Paul knew God had not forsaken His promises to Israel.

Only way to get blessing from this chapter is study it verse by verse.

*I.

FOCUS IS ON ELECTION…v.1-6                                                                                                                         *   *V.1..*No!...used term “God forbid”..then Paul uses himself to show that God is not thru with His people.

* V.2..*word “foreknew” means “foreordain, predestinate”…remember promise to Abraham…

* V.

2b, **3-4**..*illust. of the time Elijah had conversation with Lord…*I Kgs.

19:18*…(remnant today he says)

* V.5…*”election” means the “act of choosing or picking out”…Paul was one of those chosen.

*V.6…*he makes argument that grace has no part of works…free gift…works come after…

*II.**

FOCUS IS ON THEIR FALL…v.7-10*

*V.7-8..*Israel did find what they looking for; only the elect; they blinded to grace of God…

Cf…Paul quotes 2 O.T. scrptures…*Deut.

29:4*…*Isa**.

29:10*

        Each emphasizes the hardness of Israel’s heart.

*V.9-10..*Paul quotes David…David saw their hardness…*Ps.

69:22-25*

  

*III.**

FOCUS **NOW** IS THEIR RESTORATION…v.

11-24*

 *V.11…*there fall allows the good news to spread out to nations (“gentiles” nations)

             Israel of old in world today is not out of God’s program or promises…God has been in pursuit of His own…

 *V.

12…riches of God’s grace is* spread abroad…

 *V.

13…*

* V.14…*jealousy…Israel’s rejection brought the greatest blessing to nations world ever known…and Paul went where

             he was instructed to go to spread good news (so did other disciples)

 *V.15…*when

Israel is restored to future blessing as God will have her, world will be bless greater than now.

*V.16-24…*illust.

by Paul of cutting away and grafting in…

             Paul gives a warning here of the severity of God’s punishment…goodness of His grace.

At some point in time, somehow, God is going to restore the nation of Israel…

 

*IV.**

FOCUS **NOW** ON THE **MYST**ERY…v.25-32*

* *The mystery Paul says, is that Israel has been blind to the work of God in dealing with them and the nations.

This blindness will continue until the “fullness of the Gentiles” ends…(2500 years ?)

 *V.26…*”all

Israel saved” reference to the nation.

Not the individual.

This is also a quote from Jeremiah…*V.27…*covenant,

promise to them.(church)

*V.28…*they were enemies of Lord when He walked earth…but God had chosen them long before.

*V.29…*God’s gifts, promises will never be withdrawn…

 *V.30-32…*Paul points out again that there unbelief was to our good but they will one day believe.

*V.

FOCUS **NOW** ON **PAUL**’S CONCLUSION: HIS DOXOLOGY…v.

33-36*

* *Paul breaks forth in Praise and adoration…

 *V.33…*how can God punish sin and justify the sinner ?...........the cross satisfied the law…

 *V.34…*what man could give God advice ?...

 *V.35…*who has given anything to the Lord that He needs to pay back…*Job 41:11*…

 *V.36…*He is the alfa & omega…beginning & end…our creator.

We owe everything to Him.

How much greater is our God than our greatest need!
