Introduction
1. Book of Galatians first half is primarily about what the Gospel is not.
a. The Gospel is not about morality, trying to be a good person.
b. The Gospel is not about tradition, committing yourself to a religion, a movement or a way of doing things.
c. The Gospel is not about culture, like being Canadian or American, Jew or Gentile. It's not about imposing our culture on another.
d. The Gospel is about Jesus. Jesus is the heart of the argument in Paul's letter to the Galatians. The message is that Jesus died on the cross, that he came to love us and save us, transform and redeem us. As He loves us we should love and trust him back. This is the heart of Paul's letter.
e. His love transforms us so that others can see his love in us.
2. The second half starting in chapter 5 Paul teaches that we have been given tools to accomplish sharing and growing in the Gospel.
The scriptures, those who teach the scriptures well and the Spirit that helps and empowers us to live our lives free of sin.
a.Paul has shown us through his letter these tools to grow in Christ and fight the power of sin. And he teaches us in chapter 5 what that looks like by living by the Spirit (Love, joy, peace, forbearance, gentleness, and self-control).
b.Then in chapter 6 he transitions into what we are to do in order to live by this fruit. We are to love one another, carry others burdens and center our lives on Jesus.
c. This week Paul goes on to talk about a basic principle that under-girds everything that he has tried to teach us in Galatians. It's the basic principal of sowing and reaping. We all believe this, it's a basic principal of botany that God has woven into creation.
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

1. We Reap What We Sow (Galatians 6:7)
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
a. When we plant a seed it grows into what the seed is.
b. We don't expect it to become something else.
c. When we plant the seed it takes time, patience to reap the harvest of our efforts. But we know what to expect.
2. The Deception
a. We are people who want instant results when we reap and sow. But it takes time to show the results.
b. This is why we often don't comprehend the actual results of what we have sown.
c. The devil is the great deceiver, he wants us to believe that when we sow something what we reap does no harm, but we have yet to see the actual harvest.
d. I see this all the time.
We start to read our Bible but after a few days we see no results so we stop.
We do good to others but their reaction isn't always what we want, so we stop.
We become determined to live for Jesus, but we don't see instant changes, so we decide this isn't worth it.
3. The Flesh or the Spirit (Galatians 6:8).
Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
a. If we believe the lies of the devil we actually think that if we sin, and nothing comes of it, then it hasn't harmed anyone.
b. So we continue to please the flesh in our life, but pleasing the flesh is sin and sin leads to destruction.
c. There is always a harvest.
d. If we do good to others by living like Jesus (pleasing the Spirit), then we reap eternal life at the harvest.
e. There is always a harvest.

1. Don't become weary (Galatians 6:9).
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
2. The enemy wants us to think that there is never going to be a harvest.
3. But if we keep on doing good, no matter what the result, we will see a harvest!

1. Take every opportunity to do good (Galatians 6:10)
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
2. There will be a harvest, so always keep God's promise in mind, we reap what we have sown.
Big Idea: We get out of things what we put in. If we focus on Jesus and make Him the center of our lives we will not grow weary. If we look for instant gratification we fall into the trap of destruction. Therefore, always do good, treat one another with respect and show the love of Christ always. It's all about Jesus!
