IN BUSINESS WITH GOD

The title of the message is "In Business with God"  my question tonight is Are you in Business with God?

First of All what is the business of God?

John 3:16-17 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (KJV)

Christ wasn't even a teen when He declared to His parents I must be about my Fathers Business.

God is into saving you and me

     "        "   "       sinners

     "        "   "       turning around the impossible

"        "   "       the business of saving people

Are you in business with God?

when we talk about the business of God we are not only talking about the salvation of others but also the securing our own salvation.

In the Bible we read  1 John 4:8 God is love       Don't you want to be In Business with a God like that

God created everything

Adam and Eve were entrusted with the world.

God told them to "Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth God said to them "have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the foul of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."

Then God said in Genesis 2:

Gen 2:15-17 15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." (NIV)

Now the question comes back why would God do a thing like that?  Isn't that putting temptation in the way.  Isn't that securing their doom.

We are different from machines, man was made in the image of God.  We were made to love of our own free will. We have a choice.

Romans 6:16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey-- whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? (NIV)

Of course those choices bring about consequences.

The Bible indicates that when God made the world man had dominion, but when man sinned that dominion was usurped by the devil.  He then took charge.

And one of the things we should remember is that because of it man now develops at birth the character of Satan instead of God because of sin Satan had become man's  Leader

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (KJV)

David discovered the problem of man He said PS 51:5

Ps 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. (KJV)

You remember what Jesus said about the devil. John 8:44

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (KJV)

But thank Jesus tonight that God still holds the title deed of this world because He God created it and everything in it.  And Jesus died so that provision can be made to win man back and give Him the position he had before sin.  (are you with me?)

The only way that we can overcome sin and Satan is to accept the new birth that Jesus offers

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (KJV)

1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. (NIV)

You see God was originally man's leader but because of sin (devil) he gave up that position to the devil.  .  . but God through the death and resurrection of Jesus won it back.

We have a choice as to whose character we want to develop and so I ask the question again are you in business with God!

But in order for God to lead men and women they must make the choice.

But the problem with this is some people don't recognize the choice they have to make they think that there lives belong to them to do as they please.

I'm an adult I can read

I can hold my liquor

Song writer says come on and do it whatever it is do it cause it feels right.

Christians act that way.

You see God made this world, and as Creator He is also Judge.

Ecc 12:13-14 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. (KJV)

2 Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. (KJV)

Somebody said it's my life I can do with it anything I please to do!

You've gotta to give an account to God.

1 Cor 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. (KJV)

EXPLAIN WHAT A STEWARD IS. A steward is someone who manages the property of another.

Everything we have was given to us by God, and one of the reasons why we've gotta give an account is that God plans to destroy this world as we know it

Matt 25

Matt 25:15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. (KJV)

These are not necessarily the talents God had in mind.

You see, as stewards of God we are responsible for the goods He gives us such as: Life, time, abilities and possessions God is the giver of all these gifts and He will ask us what we have done with these talents

Life, time, abilities and possessions if we have used them to enrich ourselves and satisfy our own whims and pleasures.

Or if we have used them to benefit others and ourselves in the way God would have us to.

1 Timothy 2:3-5  3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (KJV)

Matt 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (KJV)

The greatest gift is life

Acts 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, . . . giveth to all life, and breath, and all things.

Our life starts with God and He sustains it but doesn't force His will upon us

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?!!

Rom 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-- this is your spiritual act of worship. (NIV)

He wants to save you He wants the leadership of your life.

You see this world will be destroyed, gotta be changed and so He has given us the gift of time in this life,

WE ARE STEWARDS OF TIME

(have you ever heard the verse in the song When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound AND TIME SHALL BE NO MORE)

WE HAVE GOT TO GET READY NOW!! WITH THE TIME ALLOTTED IN THIS WICKED WORLD.

FOR TWO MONTHS I'VE BEEN PREACHING TO YOU

Psalms 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. (KJV)

(WE ARE NOT SAVED BY THE LAW OR BY WORKS)

Obedience to the law is not the root of Sal. it is the fruit of sal

PEOPLE SAYING THEY GOING TO HEAVEN, THEY KNOW JESUS  (Liar)

IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME . . . TO BE IN BUSINESS WITH GOD MEANS THAT WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS

THAT'S HOW WE KNOW THAT WE ARE A PART OF HIS FAMILY IF WE DO HIS WILL.

Mark 3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the somher, and my sister, and mother. (KJV)

We are stewards gggggggmmmmmllllod's possessions one of the things that is going to be the downfall of many people is SELFISHNESS AND COVETOUSNESS

     ABRAHAM

Genesis 14:20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. (KJV)

JACOB

Genesis 28:12 Saw the latter with angels on it.

Genesis 28:22 .   .   . and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee. (KJV)

David felt the same way

Psalms 116:12 How can I repay the LORD for all his goodness to me? (NIV)

Psalms 116:12 What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me? (KJV)

have you ever wondered how you can say thanks do you think Thank you is enough?

Jacob said he would return a tithe or a tenth of all that came to him.

The first written instruction regarding returning a tenth is recorded in the book of Leviticus.

Lev 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: it is holy unto the LORD. (KJV)

To return a tenth to God is to acknowledge His authority in one's life, to regard Him as the source of every blessing. In the book of numbers we are given an explanation as to the use of the tithe.

Numbers 18:21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. (KJV)

The tithe supported the work of God. In the New Testament, Paul wrote:

1 Cor 9:13-14 13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? 14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. (KJV)

Jesus commended the tithe system when He rebuked the Pharisees

Matt 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. (KJV)

That is God's system for supporting His ministry

It is better to give than to receive (feel good inside)

Mal 3:8-11  8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. (KJV)

Are You In Business with God?!!

In order for your Christian character to become strong you've gotta take part in the work.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (KJV)

You will feel good when you know that you have contributed to the work of the gospel around the world.

Judea - extended local area

Samaria

of the earth.

When you give to God He gives back to you

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. (KJV)

Give because you love God

2 Cor 9:6-7  6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. (KJV)

Luke 12:18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. (KJV) Luke 12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. (KJV)

Luke 12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? (KJV)

Don't be caught up with here used the things God has entrusted you with wisely. Life, time, abilities and possession.

Occupy but make heaven your first priority

That's why He says Matt 6:33

Some folk interested in homes

Dresses, and shoes

Matt 6:20-21 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (KJV)

Matt 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (KJV)

How can I get ready?

How can I be sure I am ready?

We will all have to give an account to God
