Text: /The Unbelief of the Jews/
22 Then came the Feast of Dedicationa at Jerusalem.
It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple area walking in Solomon’s Colonnade.
24 The Jews gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense?
If you are the Christ,b tell us plainly.”
25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe.
The miracles I do in my Father’s name speak for me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than allc; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and the Father are one.”

Prayer for the sermon:

Introduction: Feast of Dedication

            - it was winter
            - a time of renewal
- It occupied eight days, was distinguished by illumination of the city and temple and of other places throughout the land and hence was called the “Feast of Lights.”[2]
Antithesis: (The condition that the sermon addresses)

Thesis: (The direction and focus of the sermon)

Relevant Question(s):

Synthesis: (Body of the sermon: the points…)

Point One: Jesus says, “I did” and “You do not”
In a sermon by Bruce Howell he suggests that their four voices to listen for.
A voice from within, behind, ahead and above.
I would expand that thought little more, to include vision.
You must have a ears and eyes to see and heard the God from within, behind, ahead, and above.
Sub- the two easiest to understand and to initiate is within and    behind.
Within- guides before it happens
                        Behind- our past

Sub- do not lay aside the weapons that God have given you:

                        -the armor

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 lPut on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the 2wiles of the devil.
12 *For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,* but against mprincipalities, against powers, against nthe rulers of 3the darkness of this age, against spiritual /hosts/ of wickedness in the heavenly /places./
*13** oTherefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand pin the evil day, and having done all, to stand.*[3]**
-prayer
                        -testimonies

All these come from within and are strength by past experiments.
Sub- Ahead and above; looking and listening for God above and ahead.
Above keeping our eyes and ears fixed above us.
Pointing to the direction and authority that God is in your life.
|         |I will alift up mine eyes unto aathe hills,
                              From whence cometh my help.
Ps. 121:1

bMy help /cometh/ from the Lord,
                              cWhich made heaven and earth.
Ps. 121:2

Point Two: Dedication

Sub- cannot rededicate something back to God.
Once owned God always owed by God.
To suggest that you can buy your freedom from God is a mistake.
Sub- dedication is continual process.
We our dedicating our lives to God every day, every hour, every moment.
It belongs to God.

14 Behold, fthe heaven and the heaven of heavens /is/ the Lord’s thy God, gthe earth /also/, with all that therein /is/.
[6]  Deut.
10:14

Point Three: Cleansing

Sub- what stuff we do hold on too, and along with the new stuff you pick up; cleaning the temple is good!
Sub- there cannot be renewed without a cleansing process

Closing ~/ Celebration: (Conclusion, summary…)

I heard once about a dear, saintly old woman who was gradually losing her memory.
Details began to blur… But throughout her life the women had cherished and depend on the Word of God, committing to memory many verses from her KJ Bible.
Her favorite verse had always been 2 Timothy 1:12: *“For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.*”
She was finally confined to her bed in a nursing home, and her family knew she would never leave alive.
As they visited with her, she would still quote verse of Scriptures on occasions-especially 2 timothy 1:12.
But with the passing of time, even parts of the well – loved verse began to slip away.
“I know whom I believed,” she would say.
“He is able to keep…what I have committed… to him.”
Her voice grew weaker.
And the verse became even shorter.
“What I have committed…to him.”
As she was dying, her voice became o faint family members had to bend over to listen to the few whispered words on her lips.
And at the end, there was only one word of her life verse left.
“Him” She whispered it again and again as she stood on the threshold of heaven.
“Him…Him…Him.”
It was all that was left.
I was all that was needed.
Maybe add Mom’s story (Irma M. Randle)

“You heard but you do not obey: You see and do not believe.”
-          28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand[7]
