Genesis 1:1 ESV
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Worldview- A particular philosophy of life or conception of the world.

Biblical Worldview- Filters a philosophy of life through the teaching of the Bible.

--
What it is not:
Merely Christian Morals.
Not a few verses that you like to live by.
Not automatic with salvation.
Not reactionary.
What it is:
Biblically rooted for all aspects of life.
Speaks to how to view the rightness and wrongness of culture.
Points to hope; not hope for, but hope in.

Genesis 1-11 is sometimes dismissed as allegory, myth, or symbolic.

But there are 1/2 dozen direct quotes from these chapters in the New Testament and 55 allusions or partial quotes.
Jesus spoke of Adam and Eve, Noah and the flood, etc. as real events and real people. Paul concluded sin was passed on to all because we are all "In Adam" and therefore share in his fallen nature. The thought of a day of rest is rooted in the creation story.

A Literal interpretation of these chapters help form a biblical worldview.

The Soul of Man and our relationship to animals.

Genesis 2:7 ESV
then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
Genesis 2:19–20 ESV
Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him.

The Age of the Earth.

There are two sets of genealogies in Genesis, one in chapter 5 and one in chapter 9

Made in the Image of God.

Genesis 1:26–27 ESV
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Capital Punishment

Genesis 9:6 ESV
“Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.

Creation and Evolution

Genesis 1:1 ESV
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

The Environment and Man-Made Climate Change

Genesis 8:22 ESV
While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”

Sexuality and Sexual Identity

Genesis 1:26–27 ESV
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Genesis 2:22–25 ESV
And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

Where did Evil Come From?

All of Genesis 3 deal with the origin of evil in the world.

Is Abortion or Assisted Suicide Acceptable?

If we accept that we are made in the image of God, then a biblical worldview informs us that life is precious!

Why are we even here?

If we believe that God created us male and female in His image, it would stand to reason that our purpose for being here is for his good pleasure.

What About Aliens?

So much of our infatuation about life in other places is rooted in an evolutionary pre-supposition that since the word, they say, is so old, and since water is the basic necessity for life (as we know it) then if we could find h20 etc on other planets, it would indicate there was once life there.
This challenges a biblical world view concerning the age of the earth, and even a biblical worldview that God has always existed outside his creation.
IF you buy in to the idea that aliens created the pyramids, etc., then it is a short jump replacing God or any god, with an alien.

Personal Responsibility.

Seems like we are always wanting to play the "blame game" to be a martyr, or to illicit pity, to make us look better, and to feel entitled.
Genesis 3:11–13 ESV
He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

The Solution to Sin

Genesis 3:15 ESV
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
