*Luke 5:17-26 \\ *17 One day as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there.
And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick.
18 Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus.
19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”
21 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy?
Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

*What is the miracle of this story?*
· Jesus came for the sake of salvation, to usher in a new day and a new kingdom
o The miracle in this parable was that Jesus offered salvation, and forgiveness to this mangled man not that he gave him the ability to walk.
§ It is salvation that fixes the heart of man
§ It is salvations that saves a dying man from hell
§ It is salvation that passes us from death to life
§ It salvation that makes us a child of God
§ It’s salvation that makes us a friend of God
§ It’s salvation that Gives us access to the throne room of God
§ It’s salvation that gives us relationship with the Living God
§ It is in salvation we filled
§ And from salvation we are empowered
§ It in salvation we are found
§ And from salvation we are asked to Go
§ My friend its God grace that is your power \\ \\
· In Jesus’ eyes the sign and wonder of telling this paralyzed man to rise and walk was secondary to the gift of salvation.
o Oh you don’t believe, ok, then get and walk, now do you believe \\ \\
· Don’t let the flesh dictate your spiritual eyes, your spiritual walk, and your spiritual experience.
o Our flesh often seeks miracles, experiences and signs and wonders, which becomes a deterrent to the purpose he called us to.
§ People like this seek one miracle after another
· They feed on experience
· They live by dreams, visions, and personal experiences
· They hop from church to church
· They isolate in view of their own wisdom
· They’re life becomes one of outward manifestation instead of inward change.
· They often start there theological statements with the phrase “*I* think”
o We can never think that miracles are what make a God.
§ We can never think miracles make a man of God.
§ If we seek after just the experience we’ll never understand:
· true Biblical Power,
· true manifestations of the Holy Spirit
· the greatest gift ever given
· never understand the power of the cross
· Jesus warns us of just looking for experience, and following after sign and wonders.
*Matthew 24:* \\ V4 -5.
Watch out that no one *deceives *you.
5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
v.24.
24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible.
· So what is the point?
o The point is that:
§ While sometime we need to experience God, Majority of the time we need to become part of the experience.
§ We need to understand that a true disciple doesn’t seek just seek to experience God all the time, but rather has a passion to share the experience.

o So I ask you, what is your point?
§ Abraham had intention in every step, Moses had intention in every step, David had intention in every step, John the Baptist had intention in every step and all of that footwork pointed to the cross.

o Where are your feet pointing?
Do your intentions have an eternal mindset?
§ Jesus’ feet walked him to the cross
§ The disciples spent their lives pointing to the cross.
§ Where are your feet pointing?

· Jesus lived with cause, with purpose, and created for the ability to go forward in action.
· I am here to tell you the cross you received
o You need to give away
· The cross that you carry
o You need to share
· Do not just fill up, pour out because you were created to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ
