MAN’S PERSPECTIVE OF THE SAVIOUR

1 Peter 2:7-8

The passage gives us two different perspectives of Christ.

One tells of the believers perspective, precious.

The other tells of the world’s (unbelievers) a rock of offence.

We’ll look at both, but in opposite order of how they are given.

I.                   The Perspective of the World. (Stumbling over the Rock of Offence.)

A.     Stone of stumbling

The problem of the Sanhedren

To those of the faithless persuasion, Jesus is a mere annoyance.

B.     A Rock of offence.

The more Jesus is spoken of the more he is offensive to them.

C.     They are appointed to this perspective.

1)      Responsibility still falls upon the individual.

2)      Cannot blame God. (Romans 9:19-20)

II.                 The Perspective of the Faithful. (Hanging on to the preciousness of Christ.) Isaiah 28:16

A.     When is that preciousness evident?

1)      When we face persecution.

2)      When we are tried and tempted.

B.     How is that preciousness evident?

1)      In our worship.

2)      In our lifestyles.

C.     Where is that preciousness evident?

Everywhere!
