*Joshua 5:13-15, 6:16*
*What’s The Word?*

13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him,/ Art/ thou for us, or for our adversaries?
14 And he said, Nay; but/ as/ captain of the host of the LORD am I now come.
And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?
15 And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest/ is/ holy.
And Joshua did so.
*B) *There are many things about life and in life that we do not know about.
Some of us quite often have the faintest idea about what some people are saying.
Many of you look right in their face nodding as if we know what they are talking about.
I want to encourage you today…It you don’t know something, you ought to ask somebody.
You ought to get knowledge.
James says, “That God wants you to be complete, not lacking anything.
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
Turn to your neighbor, “If you don’t know you better ask somebody”.
*A) *In our text tonight, we find Joshua in a peculiar situation.
Joshua, this mighty man of God, Assistant to Moses for a numbers of years as Moses led the People of God up to the east of the Jordan.
Now, God appointed to succeed His Servant Moses, Joshua now has the awesome appointment to take the people of God across the Jordan into the Canaan, the promise land.
God assures Joshua, that as He was with Moses, so shall He be with him.
As God led the people of Israel by Moses through the Red Sea on dry ground, He does the same with Joshua, as He led them across the Jordan River on Dry Ground.
The bible says that as soon as the feet of the priests touched the flowing waters, they stood up.
So here we are on the west side of the Jordan and Jericho is in and on the way.
The bible says that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him,/ Art/ thou for us, or for our adversaries?
14 And he said, Nay; but/ as/ captain of the host of the LORD am I now come.
And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

13 And he/ was/ clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies/ which were/ in heaven followed him …
