Ø     What is temptation?
Seduction to evil, solicitation to wrong.
It stands distinguished from trial in that trials test, (they) seek to discover the man's moral qualities or character;

Ø     The one means to undeceive,

Ø     The one aims at the man's good, making him conscious of his true moral self;

v    In Gethsemane…
Ø     Jesus was tempted in his full humanity to not go to the cross
§         And Satan was right there
 
v    It is interesting in *Luke 4:13* after Jesus had overcome temptation 3 times in the desert Scripture tells us…
Ø     /When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time/
§        *This was the opportune time!*

¨     With Satan right there in Gethsemane
Ø     Whispering in his ear
Ø     Urging Jesus to turn back
Ø     Tempting him
§        We are not told what the temptation was in Gethsemane
·        But it was probably something similar to the second temptation in the wilderness

§        The Devil is not very creative in his temptations

§        Third was power
§        But 2nd was Sloth
