FOR TODAY. JOHN 11 (RAISING LAZARUS) JESUS’ POWER OVER DEATH REVEALS HIS MESSIAHSHIP. GOD GENUINELY CARES ABOUT OUR HURTING HEARTS! JOHN 12 CONFLICT OF BELIEF EACH PERSON MUST CHOOSE WHETHER THEY WILL BELIEVE IN JESUS AND USE THEIR LIFE FOR ETERNAL IMPACT. JOHN 13 TRUE DISCIPLES OF CHRIST LOVE AND SERVE ONE ANOTHER OUT OF A TRANSFORMED HEART! JOHN 14 LIVING IN THE ETERNAL PRESENCE OF GOD IS ONLY THROUGH CHRIST. THE HOLY SPIRIT ENABLES LOVING OBEDIENCE. JOHN 15:1-17 ABIDING IN CHRIST RESULTS IN RIGHT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, INTERNAL JOY, AND LOVING OTHERS. Enabled Faithfulness JOHN 15:18-16:15 ENABLED FAITHFULNESS 1.The World’s attitude of hate towards you is rooted in their rejection of Christ. 15:18-21 2.The World’s rejection of truth is without excuse. 15:21-27 3.We should not be surprised when opposition to Christ arises. 16:1-4 ENABLED FAITHFULNESS 4. The Holy Spirit is our helper and bears the responsibility of bringing conviction to man. 16:5-11 5. The Holy Spirit guides us to truth. 16:12-15 THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS US UNDERSTAND THE REJECTION OF THE WORLD AND THE TRUTH OF GOD. APPLICATION 1. God has given me through the Holy Spirit the resources I need to deal with the rejection by people. 2. At the core of man’s conflict with God is the issue of belief in the truth that God has revealed—I must stand on truth. APPLICATION 3. When I face rejection, I must understand that in reality, people are not rejecting me, they are rejecting God and His truth. 4. I must rest in the truth that the Holy Spirit is convicting people’s heart of truth. He is the one who convicts people of sin, righteousness, and judgment—it isn’t THE HOLY SPIRIT IS WORKING IN PEOPLE’S HEART—STAND ON TRUTH.
