2 Timothy 3:1 CSB
But know this: Hard times will come in the last days.
We may not—but we may—be living in the days in close proximity to “the last days.”
We can listen to this list and say, “Sounds like the news every night (like that’s the only time we get ‘news’ anymore).”
2 Timothy 3:1–5 “But know this: Hard times will come in the last days. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, demeaning, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people.”
How do we understand this list? Why were these items included (specifically) and others not (or under a more broad category)?
These questions are important since we are told to “avoid these people” (v. 5).
