Mark 15:40-16:8; Don’t Be Afraid, He Is Alive

Sermon in a sentence: Because Christ is alive we should not live in fear.

Do Not Fear Society (vs. 40-46)

Mark has highlighted women in his gospel, but not like he does here!
Jairus’ daughter was healed and the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5)
The Syrophoenician mother asks Jesus to heal her daughter (Mark 7)
The Widow’s gift compared to the gifts of the religious leaders (Mark 12)
The woman at Simon the Leper’s house anoints Jesus for his death (Mark 14)
While the disciples had fled and deserted Jesus these women didn’t.
Joseph was probably a member of the Sanhedrin. Yet he risked his position, wealth, and even his life.

Do Not Fear God’s Call (vs. 1-8)

These women rightfully fear the majesty of this angelic messenger.
The angel told the women to go tell the disciples and Peter about the resurrection.
The women were initially overcome with fear, but that did not last.
Application

*This week, take a gospel tract and share the gospel with at least one person this week!
*Pray that God would give you boldness to proclaim his word!
