** We are beginning a new series today: Pneuma “a journey from the ressurection to pentecost. and we are going to be talking for a few weeks about the holy spirits arrival as promised and it begins after the ressurection. SO in a sense we are going to be seeing this through the eyes of the disciples and through the acts of the apostles we will see this and i believe its going to help us
Pneuma: Greek word for
“wind - John 3:8 “8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.””
“Supernatural
“Spirit
So today: john.
Jesus has risen
He begins appearing & in John there is 3 - To Mary - To the disciples & thomas
Then again & thats our text for today:
(remember when you read your bible: look for a 1 Command to Be obeyed, a warning to be heeded or a truth to be recognized and recieved into your life).
John 21:1–14 (ESV)
1 After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” 6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. 7 That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. 8 The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off.
9 When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. 14 This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.
PRAY
According to research about 85% of Americans have a consistent and regular breakfast.
There is something about it tho, isn’t it.
Gets you ready for the day ahead
I am I an avid breakfast-er. Every Saturday as is our custom, we have a sabbath breakfast as a family. It’s a time where we rest, replenish and remember the faithfulness of God.
And yesterday as I’ve been reading and re reading and meditating on this passage this week, I saw this. In a way play out for us.
Jill and I were preparing our breakfast for the whole family and we had a few things after breakfast we wanted to accomplish as a family. Some tidying up, and the kids had a couple of things each they needed to do.
And it was if in that moment. Having discussed it. Having worked out in a sense what was ahead - we stopped - and I said to the kids: let’s just enjoy breakfast and the we’ll get to all of that.
And we did. We sat down. We prayed. We asked God to bless us. And we filled up.
“Have some breakfast first, then we’ll get to all that”
This is exactly what happens to the disciples.
Jesus is crucified.
He is mourned
Then he rises
They are overjoyed and amazed…
…. They have so much to jump into
But.
Jesus shows up.
And says,
John 21:12 (ESV): Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.”
Isn’t it the kindness of God after Jesus has resurrected to not STRAIGHT AWAY ASCEND?
He didn’t
He stayed
He showed himself
He spent time with the disciples
He first appeared to Mary.

1.God is measured & unhurried in fulfilling His purpose.

“Come. Lets have some breakfast” - Jesus
You would be forgiven if you thought that God - in all his glory and power and sovereignty - he would just want to get on with it build the Kingdom build the church get Paul raised up get him sent out get PETER to go to the Jews. Get James to get set up in Jerusalem, get the giving going for Paul and Titus and Timothy and Barnabas off to the races you would think that that would be the strategy because that’s a worldly strategy. The worlds strategy, is nothing at all like Gods strategy.
Jesus is incredible at taking HIS TIME. I pray you would catch this: JESUS IS NOT BOUND BY TIME FRAMES: He was before time, entered into TIME - and will BE FOREVER BIGGER THAN TIME!
John 21:11 “11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn.”
**Jesus was intentional about this net not tearing: Because it was about them spending time together, restoring relationship & coming together in unity and for a purpose***
God doesn’t do things our way, what God does is he takes his time and makes his perfect will come about through us and via us.
Word for to someone: You can trust God right now. He’s got this
-that business
-that major financial decisions
-that major issue at work
-that struggle in your. Marriage
However big. He’s got this.
Do you know that God will take all the time that he needs to fulfill his purpose in your life and his timeline is very likely to be vastly different to your timeline
He has always been like this:
The story of Ishmael.
When Ishmael was born to Hagar, he was the son of Abraham at 89 years old.
”And Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.“ ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/59/gen.16.16.ESV
You don’t have to be a genius at math to work it out
99-86=13
Ishmael was 13. God had Abraham wait 13 years so he could be I’d imagine with a dad
Learn in g to do stuff Somewhere down on the Mediterranean learning to fish, and to hunt and to survive and watch Abraham be a man.
Like what comes next is amazing to me
”When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless, that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.”“ ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭17‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/59/gen.17.1-2.ESV
What did Abraham probably do somewhere along the coast with Ishmael? Go fishing, Have breakfast. Montenegrins
galatians 1:18 “18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and remained with him fifteen days.”

2.He ensures we are “well-fed” before we are sent off

to do His work.
Maybe the reason sense a wait, is because God is still trying to have breakfast with you.
Could you imagine the son of God, in resurrected FORM, making you breakfast ?
write this down: God wants to equip you and prepare you while he is in relationship with you.
Don’t skip breakfast
way more happens at breakfast than we think.
We enjoy relationship. We go through the plans for the day
if we are travelling somewhere we prepare
we set a strategy
we get things ready
we set the course
**dont skip breakfast with JESUS

3.Who you are is more important than what you do

What does JEsus do while at the breakfast table?
he restores relationship after breakfast
John 21:15–17 ESV
15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” 16 He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.
Could you imagine peter during breakfast. you know those awkward times when you know there is something that needs to be talked about and no ones saying anything. i can just imagine peter trying to enjoy this miracle fish filet breakfast sandwich and being like “i cant take it anymore” “can we just talk about what happened”????
Jesus just takes hsis time
Vs 15: “when they finished breakfast, Jesus said…..
Do you LOVE me?
3 times
The New Bible Commentary 20:30–21:25 The Epilogue

The threefold challenge to Peter looks as if it were designed to parallel his threefold denial

Imagine what peters life wouldve looked like had he skipped breakfast with JESUS.
Maybe bitterness and resentment and regret would have overtaken him.
