Obituary

Tricia Kay Moses, age 52, of Ochelata, Oklahoma, was called to her heavenly home on March 18, 2024, after a battle with early onset Alzheimer’s. Tricia was born on April 6, 1971, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ruby Moody and Walter Moody. She spent her childhood years in Oglesby, Oklahoma, graduating from Caney Valley High School in 1990. After completing high school, she worked in the dental field as a dental hygienist. She loved kids and that passion soon grew to lead her to go back to school and get her Bachelor of Science degree in Early elementary Education. She taught for 11 years in both the Caney Valley Elementary School and Barnsdall Elementary School. She was also a 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator for the Tulsa County OSU Extension in 2018. On March 11, 1995, she married the love of her life, Paul Ryan Moses and they made their home outside of Ochelata, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two sons, Hayden Ryan and Weston Lane. They were her pride and joy. Her most favorite thing to do was to be involved with her boys and in the 4-H activities. She loved all things 4-H. Whether it was working with them on their 4-H projects, volunteering in the 4-H Beef Club, entering exhibits for the Free Fair or preparing for the Washington County Junior Livestock Show, you could always find her in the middle of it helping get things done. It was a family activity and they all enjoyed it. Tricia had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, whether it be singing in church, singing the National Anthem in a parade or just singing in the car. She was a love of the outdoors and wasn’t afraid to try new things. She enjoyed going with Paul on trail rides with their mules, camping in the wall tent (with a wood stove), taking care of the livestock, rescuing baby critters or playing with the dogs. She loved “junking,” sister days, trips with the girls to Canton and getting together every Thursday for lunch with her mom and sisters. She loved the Lord and faithfully attended the Church of Christ in Ramona, Oklahoma. Her love for Him was evident in her beautiful smile and her caring nature. Tricia loved the color green and the family is so appreciative of all those that wore green today to honor our “Green Girl.”
Tricia is survived by her husband, Paul and two sons, Hayden and Weston Moses of the home in Ochelata; sisters, Kathy (Keith) Sims of Bartlesville, OK, and Barbara (Robert) Lee of Dewey, OK; stepbrothers, Jerry Moody of Dewey, OK, and Ronnie Moody of Bartlesville, OK; father-in-law, Carrol Moses of Talala, OK; sisters-in-law, Chris Moses of Talala, OK, Mary (Kyle) Olree of Andrews, TX, and Sue Mauer of Surprise, AZ; brother-in-law, Mark (Rebecca) Moses of Talala, OK; multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruby Moody; brother, Donnie Keller; mother-in-law, Elaine Moses; nephew, Danny Lee; and her grandparents.

Graveside

In Revelation 14:13 we find one of the most comforting, for the faithful, B-Attitudes there are.
Revelation 14:13 ESV
13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”
Obviously, this is a view of death from the other side. Viewed from God’s vantage point.
Death is something most people in this world spend their life running from, but for the faithful and righteous in the Lord it is something long for, for it is far better than this life.
Philippians 1:23 (ESV)
23 …My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.
This is why the great apostle Paul would say that the faithful in Christ are not like those without hope concerning death, because we know God’s view point (1 Thessalonians 4:13).
Because we know that Tricia and her suffering here on earth is no more because she has reached her “new home.”
She has gone “home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8).
Even so, that doesn’t make us miss Tricia any less.
We all still have that whole in our heart that she filled and the pain associated with her no longer being here with us.
Even though Paul knew it was “far better” to die and be with the Lord that didn’t mean he wasn’t, “hard pressed between departing to be with Christ and remaining in the flesh” (Philippians 1:23-24).
It’s because God understands this reality for us that he doesn’t leave us without comfort.
In fact, it is at times like these that “God allows us to see His immeasurable love, not the fullness of His Glory which even Moses could not behold, but He bestows on our wounded and hurting hearts measured healing that often is seen in the tears that flow from our hearts.”
The tears that flow from God, the tears that flow from each one here, are but a portion of the love that God and those around you have for you.
The wonderful truth is this, our dear sister in Christ Tricia understands the words psalmist words better now than anyone here.
Psalm 34:4 ESV
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
Sister Tricia Moses has gone on to be with the Lord.
Her weary and burdened earthly mind and body has been given rest because she took the Lord’s yoke and learned from him.
This day, we have hope in the promise of God that she has found rest for her soul.
I want to conclude with personalized version of James 1:12.
James 1:12 (ESV)
12 Blessed is Tricia Moses who remained steadfast under trial, for having stood the test she has receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Closing Prayer

Dear heavenly Father words often escape us at these times to adequately make our requests to you. That is why I’m so thankful that you know our thoughts, needs, pain, and suffering better than even we do. I ask that you comfort Tricia’s family & friends today and in the coming weeks and in those unexpected times when the pain feels unbearable. That in those moments we each will look to you for our comfort and those whom have been comforted by you in the past. I pray Father, that you flood each one’s mind of those precious memories we have of Tricia and bring us that joy of remembering her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. I also ask that you strengthen each of us and give each one of us the wisdom we need to one day find ourselves in your loving and eternal arms. Our souls praise you this day from our inner most being for the hope you have offered each one us through your Son’s sacrifice and our forgiveness of sin. And it is through your Son’s most gracious name we pray, amen.
