The story of the kings of Israel is one of slow decline of the nation. It shows that we need God's Spirit within us to keep his laws. Thankfully, for everyone then and now who places their faith in God, in Christ Jesus, we can avoid such decline and live lives that glorify him. God is patient and gracious, let us respond in faith, instead of accruing judgment on ourselves to come.
