Luke 20:9-19 Parable of the Vineyard

The Rejected Master (9-12)

God created all the world and gave into the submission of man to care for it on his behalf (9)
Because he is the creator and master all that happens in this world must be for his honor and glory
Even though it is my care does not mean I get to do whatever I want (Rajendra’s car illustration)
Man rejected God and did not want to live according to his will and his plans (10-12)
Man has rejected God’s Word and the revelation that he has shown about himself and has turned unto their own devises of sin and idolatry
They have rejected every attempt that God has made to draw man close to himself
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)

The Rejected Son (13-16)

When all hope of redeeming his creation seemed lost, the master had his greatest plan remaining
He sent his son who is deserving of all man’s respect
This is Christ, the Son of God who came into the world to reveal the will of the Father to all of man
Man rejected and killed Jesus so that they continue on in their wickedness and idolatry
Jesus is the heir of all things and must be worshipped by all people
To treat Jesus as anything less than God and King is to reject him completely (Amber illustration)

The Rejected Savior (17-19)

Even though Jesus was rejected and killed on Calvary, he was raised up to become the head of the corner
This was God’s plan from the beginning of time to provide a sacrifice for the sins of man (Acts 2:22-24)
He is God and the resurrection comfirms his divinity and power
Jesus is the most important figure in human history
A decision must be made about whether you will worship him as God and King or reject him further
Those who reject him will be punished, those who humble themselves in their rejection of him will be saved
