Romans 6-8 deals with the two ditches that Christians often fall into, and provides the answer for victorious living. One one side are those who turn grace into license. On he other are those who seek sanctification through legalism. God’s way is Liberty through the Spirit.

A New Master!

This is an answer to those who seek license to sin.
You are a slave to whatever you yield yourself to serve.
Paul is dealing with sanctification in this passage. How is it that we still struggle with sin?
Lazarus was called forth into new life, but the grave clothes still had to be unbound.
We are going to serve sin or righteousness, God or Satan!
Now that we are set free from sin, and become servants to God, we have fruit unto holiness.

A Greater Marriage!

An answer to those who seek to be sanctified by the law - legalism.
The law was simply the vehicle by which we understood our sin and our need for God.
Galatians 3:24–27 “So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
It only has effect while a person is alive. There is no law that rules over a dead person.
Through Christ’s death, burial and resurrection we have been set free from the law.
