Creation of Man

We were made…

By God

This is an idea that not only do we have to be firm in due to differing secular opinion but more importantly because of the effect that it has on the way that we live.
What implications does this have on my life
1: The Creator gives the creation value.
The illustration of Van Gogh painting
Where do you currently find your worth? Is it in your job? Is it in your parenthood? Is it in others opinion of you? Is your hobby?
When you find your value in things other than the God, then your value will no doubt fluctuate.
When you find your worth, when you find your value in God, as a creation of the almighty you begin to have an accurate self worth.
What kind of value do we have to God?
He set us apart Genesis 1:26
He loves us eternally John 3:16
He protects us Genesis 3:21 God clothed Adam and Eve protecting them from their nakedness and shame
He has provision for us Matthew 6:25-30
Matthew 6:25–30 CSB
“Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? Can any of you add one moment to his life span by worrying? And why do you worry about clothes? Observe how the wildflowers of the field grow: They don’t labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these. If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t he do much more for you—you of little faith?
2: The Creation is dependent on the Creator
Genesis 2:7 God forms Adam and literally breathes life into his lungs.
Are you dependent on your creator today?
Conversation with Dawson about dependence on God just to wake us.
Must pride sink us into a pit for our dependence of God to be revealed?
How do we rely on him, through prayer and petition with a heart of thanksgiving Philippians 4:6

Like God

Genesis 1:26 we read that you are not just made by God but you are also made LIKE him.
He gives sprinkles on you his attributes.
Do you live in that fact today? Do you live as though you are an image bearer of God?
Cheaper by the dozen illustration
Do you take pride in the fact that you are formed like your eternal Father?
When bear the name Christ follower does it come with expectation that we are to look like him?
Pride in your maker name comes with expectation not arrogance. Philippians 2:5-8
Many times we hear this verse in Genesis to give us a since of good self esteem and that is not misapplication of the text but I think we too often forget that we have an identity to display to the world in need of meeting their creator that we are made in God’s image therefor we will take pride in being an accurate reflection of him.

For God

Lastly we can learn from the creation of man that we are formed FOR GOD.
Isaiah 43:7 Our purpose in life is stated in our main text today. God formed us for his Glory!
God did not create us because he needed us. Acts 17:24-25 we see that God isn’t confined by anything nor does he need anything in creation yet he made us. Why?
To bring him glory.
In everything we do, in our jobs, in our families, in our marriages, when we come to decisions we must remember our purpose in life, the purpose our creator gives us is to bring him glory.
Maker of a tool illustration.
1 Corinthians 10:31 Paul tells us that whatever we do our main goal should be to bring God glory.
How will this change how you live this week?
Paul tells the church of Corinth to examine themselves. See where you need to live with the purpose today of giving God glory for that is your purpose. In all we do, we do it for the glory of God.
