Galatians 6:1–2 ESV
1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
DT: When a brother who has fallen is among us we must be gentle, humble and loving to restore them.
We must be Spiritual - That is to be under the influence of the spirit. We must be led by the Word of God. Under God’s Authority.
Restore - to put in proper condition. To place back in a former position.
We must be Gentle- the quality of not being overly impressed by one’s self-importance.
it means to operate in humility
1 Corinthians 4:21 ESV
21 What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?
2 Timothy 2:25 ESV
25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth,
We must examine ourselves continuously
- We are not to judge = which means to condemn
everyone has a chance
we have a chance
We are to help them overcome their struggle
help them in their weakness
Romans 15:1 ESV
1 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
1 Thessalonians 5:14 ESV
14 And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.
We are to do it in Love
1 John 4:21 ESV
21 And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
John 13:34 ESV
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
