There Moses will once again receive instructions & information from the Lord.
And so far in Ch. 34 we have looked at:
The Command of the Lord Vs. 1-4: Starting over, Moses the mediator.
The Nature of the Lord Vs. 5-9: The Revealing and the Response.
The Renewal of the Covenant by the Lord Vs. 10-28: God Does the Work - Separation - Jealousy

2. Current Study’s Overview

Today we are going to continue to look at the 3rd thing: The Renewal of the Covenant by the Lord and pick up our study in Vs. 18 though 28 as we conclude this series called “A Fresh Start”.

3. Series Description

The title of our 4 part series is, "A Fresh Start”.
Ever felt like you needed a do-over? Well, you're not alone. In this chapter we will discover how God gave His people a second chance and what that means for us today.
We are going to learn about Moses, the stone tablets, and God's unfailing love, and see how these ancient stories can inspire us to embrace our own fresh starts.
So, chapter is all about faith, forgiveness, and new beginnings!
So if you are taking notes we want to look at 1 thing today: The Renewal of the Covenant by the Lord Vs. 18-28

1. The Renewing of the Festivals Vs. 18-24

1.1 The Feast of Unleavened Bread Vs. 18-20

in Ex.12: at the exodus God told Moses about this feast…
It is linked with the 1st feast, Passover which was on the 14th day of Abib or Nissan…
Unleavened Bread was on the 15th – 21st day of Abib… March-April… early Barley harvest…
It commemorates the urgency in which they left Egypt… they didn’t have time to bake with leaven…
Leaven is a type of Sin…
1 Corinthians 5:6 NKJV
6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
Notice, in Vs. 19-20 all the firstborn son human and animals alike are to be given to God. But then redeemed by a lamb.
This is linked with Unleavened Bread since God redeemed the firstborn in Egypt by the blood of the lamb, therefore they belonged to God. so too with us BTW…
1 Peter 1:18 NKJV
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,

1.2 The Feast of Weeks Vs. 21-22a

Feast of Weeks: Harvest, Pentecost, 4th feast… May – June, wheat harvest, 50 days after Unl. Brd.
In Acts 2: it was on the day of Pentecost the church was birthed…
also known as Shavuot in Hebrew, This feast is one of the three major pilgrimage festivals in the Jewish tradition, alongside Passover and Sukkot.
The Feast of Weeks is named so because it occurs seven weeks after Passover, hence the name "Weeks."
In the agricultural context of ancient Israel, it originally marked the end of the barley harvest and the beginning of the wheat harvest.
It was a time when the first fruits of the wheat harvest were brought to the Temple as an offering to God, symbolizing gratitude and reliance on God's provision.

1.3 The Feast of Ingathering Vs. 22b-24

Ingathering: Booths, Tabernacles, 7th final feast. Sept. – Oct. God’s provision in the wilderness.
Like in Ex.23:14 & Deut.16:16. God requires mandatory attendance for these 3 feasts…

2. The Renewing of the Stone Tablets Vs. 25-28

Vs.26 is why the Jews don’t mix Meats & Dairy products… no cheeseburger… or pepperoni pizza.
Notice, in vs. 27 God tells moses to write this words but in Vs. 28 it says God “He” Capital H wrote on the tablets?
Talk about they are both right. God used Moses to write the 10 commandments just like to rest of the author 40 some authors who wrote the rest of the bible.
Talk about how in the same way the 10 commandments is a message from God to Israel, so is the entire bible a message to all of humanity.
2 Peter 1:19–20 NKJV
19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,
2 Peter 1:21 NKJV
21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
