Good morning

Offering

Last Week we discussed this idea of knowing our Enemy.
I introduced you to the three tactics that Satan uses to temp God’s people to Sin
It can be summed up by one Scripture.
1 John 2:16 (ESV)
16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.
All temptation can be wrapped up into these three tactics

1. Temptation to Satisfy the Flesh

2. Temptation to Satisfy the Eyes

3. Temptation to Satisfy the Pride of Life

Today we are going to look at how Satan attempted to use these three tactics to take out Jesus.
But First lets take a look at why Jesus was tempted.
Matthew 3:15 ESV
15 But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented.
Jesus’ baptism signified the beginning of His ministy.
A Ministry that would fulfill all righteousness.
Keep in Mind that Matthew is systematically showing Jewish Christians how Jesus Fulfills everything the Old Testament teaches about the Messiah. As Matthew does this he is establishing that Jesus is the Better Moses, the Second Adam, The Redeemer of the Nation of Israel, and the Redeemer of all.
Let’s pick back up at in verse 1 of chapter 4
Matthew 4:1 ESV
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
