Our theme is Extreme Days Require Extreme Living.
We live in a culture that expects extreme activities, we watch extreme reality TV, we play extreme sports, we listen to extreme music, and we attempt extreme feats.
We push the limits in everything we do so that we can get noticed.
But when it comes to the most important things in life, we are at best mediocre in the way we act.
This week, we’re going to look at four areas of our life that need to be extreme.
Tonight we’re going to look at living a life of Extreme Faith.

The Prince of Grenada
· Sentenced to life in solitary confinement with only the Bible to read.
· 33 years later he died and when they cleaned out his cell they found notations of this sort:
· Psalm 118:8 is the middle verse of the Bible.
· Ezra 7:21 contains all the letters of the alphabet except the letter J.
· Ester 18:9 is the longest verse in the Bible.
· No word or name of more than six syllables can be found in the Bible.
The problem is that although the Prince knew a lot about the Bible and Jesus, nowhere did he express that he had placed his faith in Jesus as his Savior and Lord.
I’m afraid that many people in our churches know a lot about Jesus, but they’ve need placed their faith in Him.
Tonight we’re going to look at the one of the most Extreme acts of faith that I can think of from the New Testament.
Let’s look at John 5:1-9.
A little background about the location and situation of this man.
· The pool was actually two pools located end-to-end just northeast of the Temple area.
· The pools were built during the time of Solomon.
· Each pool was a cube – 20x20x20.
· There were no steps.
· The tradition was that the water always stayed clear.
· The man was in bad shape.
We don’t know exactly what was wrong with this man, but apparently it was bad enough that the blind and lame people were beating him to the pool.
I have to assume that he was at least paralyzed from the waist down and maybe somewhat in his upper body.
Now with the background set, let’s look at the faith of this man.
· He believed first, that an angel would be back to stir the water.
· Second, he believed that if he got in the water first, he would be healed.
· Third, he believed that once he was healed, he’d be able to swim!
What does Extreme Faith mean to us?
· Extreme Faith leads to salvation!
· Mark 16:16
· Have you come to a place in your life that you have placed your faith in Jesus as your Savior and Lord?
Without it you are setting yourself up to spend an eternity in hell.
Are you at a place where you own your faith?
Extreme Faith changes our attitude.
Romans 5:2
o Faith in Jesus gives us hope and joy from within.
o Where does your hope and joy come from?
Extreme Faith gives us boldness.

o Many people do not tell others about Jesus or invite their friends to church because they do not have the faith that God will do what He say He will do.
