Luke 12:35-41

Theme: Jesus Teaching
Key verse: v.32
59 verse; 1,407 words
Grade level: 6.0
Outline:
I. Be careful... lest Satan hinder you. Verses 1-12
II. Be confident... God will not fail you. Verses 13-34
III. Be consistent... in preparing for Christ's return. Verses 35-59
While we know the Lord is coming soon so we must observe these PRACTICES:

I. The Truth. vs.35-37

35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
Ephesians 6:14 “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”
36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

II. The Time. v.38

38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

III. The Thief. vs.39-41

39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
1 Thessalonians 5:2 “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”
Revelation 16:15 “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.”
40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
Son of man
This is His human name.
“Son of David” is His Hebrew name.
“Son of God” is His Holy name.
41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?

Conclusion:

Are you watching for the Lord?
Are you living for the Lord?
