Saved in What?

2 Timothy 3:16–17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 4:1–5 “I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”
Ok to start with lets take a look at 1 Timothy 2, a difficult yet not a terribly difficult verse.
1 Timothy 2:8–15 NKJV
8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. 11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
now, why did I give you all that just for v15? because context drives the exposition. lets look at the instruction and see what and how we can look at v15.
Lets think of our 5 w’s and an H as we examine each verse. Technically we could even look at vv1-7 to help our context.
v8 Now lets look at v8 that who prays? What men? Lifting up?
v9 in like manner, modest what? What is the with ? moderation/discretion
not with what?
v10 whats proper? For women professing what? with what?
v11 learn in what? with what? who?
v12 (explains v11) who is not to ? over? what does this not say? this isnt saying that the wife cant talk to husband or even teach husband, training men in biz, etc. this is saying that a woman should not teach in the church to everyone.
v13 for - why is this pertinent?
v14 Adam was not what? where/when did this happen. (lets go read) Genesis 3:12–13 “Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” 13And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”” v14 who fell into transgression?
v15 whos the she? saved in childbearing if they what child? whats the context/ whos child? Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”” Who is “they”? what do they continue in?
Ok, does this kind of sound like 11-15 Let a woman be learning in silence with every subjection. Moreover, I do not permit a woman to be a teacher [in an official position exercising authority over the man in matters of Church doctrine or discipline], neither to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence, for Adam first was molded, then Eve, and Adam was not deceived, but the woman, having been completely hoodwinked, has fallen into transgression. Yet she shall be saved [in the sense of sanctifying, salutary influences in her spiritual life through the pains of childbirth] in her childbearing if they continue in faith and love and holiness accompanied by sober-mindedness.
What are some other questions? Glad you asked. Why I’m glad you asked.
do christians have to be poor to be saved? Matthew 19:21–22 “Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 22But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.” What is the context - Matthew 19:16–26
Romans 10:9-10 do all i have to do is say…
What was the work Jesus said you have to do to be saved? John 6:26–29 “Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” 28Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” 29Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.””
Philippians 1:9–11 “And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”
how do you approve things that are excellent?
