Notice I entitled this “What’s in The Name” Names carry a lot with them. There are some family names that have a lot of history behind them in certain areas. For instance, there are names in America that have clout. The Kennedys, the Hiltons, the Marriotts, etc. There are names in Hawaii that mean a lot like King Kamehameha, Queen Liliuokalani, and Iam Tongi. There are names in sports that are famous like the Mannings, Archie, Peyton, and Eli. But there is only one Name that is eternal. It is The Name. It’s the Name Jesus!
Mark 16:15–18 AMP
15 And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel) to every creature [of the whole human race]. 16 He who believes [who adheres to and trusts in and relies on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] and is baptized will be saved [from the penalty of eternal death]; but he who does not believe [who does not adhere to and trust in and rely on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] will be condemned. 17 And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; 18 They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.

The Name of Jesus is Powerful!

Jesus Himself told us that His Name would cause demons to tremble, it would protect us against the evil one, it would bring miraculous healing to the sick and bring deliverance and freedom to those oppressed by the devil. The Name of Jesus is powerful!
Acts 3:1–8 NLT
1 Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service. 2 As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money. 4 Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. 6 But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” 7 Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. 8 He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them.

The Name of Jesus Heals!

Here is an account of the Name of Jesus causing a miracle to happen. This man was lame from birth. So he asks Peter and John for money and goes away with much more. The lame man receives his miracle and walks. Well not only walks but goes jumping and leaping and praising God. The Name Heals!
Acts 4:5–20 NLT
5 The next day the council of all the rulers and elders and teachers of religious law met in Jerusalem. 6 Annas the high priest was there, along with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and other relatives of the high priest. 7 They brought in the two disciples and demanded, “By what power, or in whose name, have you done this?” 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of our people, 9 are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed? 10 Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead. 11 For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’ 12 There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” 13 The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. 14 But since they could see the man who had been healed standing right there among them, there was nothing the council could say. 15 So they ordered Peter and John out of the council chamber and conferred among themselves. 16 “What should we do with these men?” they asked each other. “We can’t deny that they have performed a miraculous sign, and everybody in Jerusalem knows about it. 17 But to keep them from spreading their propaganda any further, we must warn them not to speak to anyone in Jesus’ name again.” 18 So they called the apostles back in and commanded them never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John replied, “Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him? 20 We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.”

The Name of Jesus Gives Us Boldness!

After the miracle of the lame man walking, the council of all the rulers and elders and teachers call Peter and John in to demand to know under what power or name was this done. Peter takes the opportunity to preach the Gospel to them with boldness, which they saw. Then they command them not to use this Name of Jesus any more to which they reply basically no. They will obey God rather than man. And they cannot help but speak what they saw. What did we see? I saw a life going nowhere get changed by Jesus when He saved me in 1980. I cannot not share that! His Name gives us boldness!
Philippians 2:5–11 AMP
5 Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:] 6 Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, 7 But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being. 8 And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross! 9 Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, 10 That in (at) the name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 And every tongue [frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

His Name is Higher Than Any Other Name!

There is no other name higher than the Name of Jesus. Some people will drop names to get the best seat at a concert. Or drop names to get something for themselves. There is no better name to drop than Jesus. Drop His name over circumstances that we face. Drop His name when praying for our family and friends. He is the best name to drop because He is the highest. In the Name of Jesus we have everlasting life and victory!
