Here we are just completing the first week of 2024! We’re in the beginnings of the year and we will never get the years that have passed back. That’s what is exciting with the new year, it’s never the same old same old. Think about it we’re in a new year, we live in the new testament, and with Jesus we have a new life. So today we are going to remind ourselves to look and keep in our heart all the “new” things that God has done for us.
Hebrews 10:8–18 NLT
8 First, Christ said, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings or burnt offerings or other offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with them” (though they are required by the law of Moses). 9 Then he said, “Look, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to put the second into effect. 10 For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time. 11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. 12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. 14 For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy. 15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says, 16 “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” 17 Then he says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.” 18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

The Old is Cancelled!

The first covenant was cancelled in order for the second one to take place. You cannot combine the first and the second. The first was animal sacrifice in order to cover sin. The second was the sacrifice of Jesus that ultimately covers sin once and for all.
2 Corinthians 5:17–18 AMP
17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! 18 But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].

We are New Creations!

All of the “good ole days” have passed away. Why? Because we were not new creations back then. We now have a new way of living because we are now grafted together with Jesus. It’s no longer our way of doing things but His way only.
Colossians 3:10–11 NLT
10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. 11 In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.

We Need to Put On the New Man!

John 13:34–35 TPT
34 “So I give you now a new commandment: Love each other just as much as I have loved you. 35 For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.”

New: We Love Like Jesus!

We don’t love with limited human love like we used to. We love like Jesus, unconditionally and more concerned with others. In fact, we lay down our lives for others. There is no greater love than to do to others a little bit, cause we can’t do it exact like Him.
