Transcript
A doctor sees the flesh of mankind as a vehicle to be repaired.
A soldier see the flesh of mankind as a sack of water to be drained.
A laborer sees the flesh of mankind as tool to be used.
But God sees the flesh of mankind as paper to express His deepest feelings.
Jesus is the Word of God that was written on that special piece of paper. We have seen so far in this first chapter of John,
The origin of the Word - He is eternal - “In the beginning was the Word.”
The essence of the Word - He is God -”The Word was God.”
The work of the Word - He is the Creator - “All things came into being through Him.”
And……
The Purpose of the Word - He is the Savior - “To as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God.”
This morning I would like us to consider 4 implications of Christmas from John 1:14 and 18.
1. Jesus Now has a Body Like Us.

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
“The Word became flesh.”
An incomprehensible miracle when the Holy Spirit came over Mary and created 23 perfect chromosomes to blend with her 23 chromosomes. But instead of a human soul being created to inhabit that 1 celled body, the Word became one with that body. It was not just that God inhabited an empty shell like a crab switching a smaller shell for a bigger one. The Eternal God was fuzed to that body for the rest of eternity.
He became truly human without loosing anything that made Him truly divine.
He will always have His body. It is now as much a part of Him as His deity is.

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
dwelt - means tabernacled. Like the glory of God entering the tabernacle of the Jews in the OT
34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
35 Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
“as the only begotten of the Father.”
Jesus is one of a Kind. He is glorious. John, Peter, and James saw His glory on the mount of transfiguration.
15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
1 “Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
2 “For behold, darkness will cover the earth And deep darkness the peoples; But the Lord will rise upon you And His glory will appear upon you.
Can you imagine being there while Jesus was here? John says, “and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father full of grace and truth.” They saw Jesus in the flesh. They talked with Him, the touched Him, they prayed with Him, they heard Him teach, they watched Him live and deal with everyday situations with grace and with truth. That would have been amazing! And as they watched, they must have thought, this man is not like us, yes he might have a body like ours but this man is not of this world, He had to come from heaven.

18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.
Verse 18 wraps it up for us. No man has seen Deity, that is face to face in all of His glory. But, the Word in flesh who knows the Father inside and out, He can explain Him. That is the ultimate purpose of Jesus, the Word. A word is a description, and explanation and Jesus is the full explanation of the Father. Jesus said in John 14:9, “He who has seen me has seen the Father.” “A word is composed of letters and Jesus Christ is “Alpha and Omega” (Rev.1:11), the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. According to
1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Jesus Christ is God’s last Word to mankind, for He is the climax of divine revelation.” – Warren Wiersbe.
Christmas is a time of wonder and joy because seemingly magical things happen during this season.
There is nothing more amazing than than the truth that God became a man so that we can understand God fully.
Do you know Him? If you know Jesus, you can know God. Jesus is the Word of God, His body is the paper. When you put the two together youhave a love letter from God to you.
