The Duracell Advert 2023

Duracell Bunny Saves Christmas in 2023 Holiday Campaign | 1:00
Message - run out power, Christmas ruined.

Mobiles all need to be charged up

Every day? Once a week? Permanently attached to cable?!

As followers of Jesus, we have access to a supernatural source of power - our Mighty God

But do we plug in? Do we connect with him?

Explanation (5m)

Jesus is our Mighty God

Isaiah 9:6 NLT
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
He is able to do anything we need.
He can do infinitely more than we can ask or even think.
He can keep us from falling and stumbling. He can complete the good work he has started within us.
Without God, we are nothing, like a reindeer without Duracell batteries, or a mobile without charge. With God, we have all we need.

There is something to see in the manger

It’s Jesus’ power. He can win the battle. He can beat the most difficult of circumstances.
The power of our Mighty God is the greatest power that’s ever come into this world. A new strength. A new strength for the world, and new strength for your life.

What’s most amazing is that this power is not impersonal, it’s a person

Our Mighty God is Immanuel - God with us.
God’s power is found from being in relationship with him.

It’s hard to suffer and walk through our toughest battles alone

They’re made a little easier by having someone who will walk through them with you.
May remember John McCarthy, Brian Keenan and Terry Anderson - held hostage in Lebanon:
Video: McCarthy-Keenan-Anderson | 2:00
Can’t imagine how I would survive that sort of ordeal, but John McCarthy: “[Brian] was my strength and my soul mate. Without him I don't think I would have made it”.
It is easier to face our toughest battles if we have someone who will hold our hand.
Our Mighty God - Immanuel, God with Us - promises to do just that.

Application (5m)

So what’s the toughest battle you are facing just now?

Relationship not going well - our Mighty God wants to give his power to make a difference.
Worried about health, or health of loved one?
Financial worries? Worries at work?
A temptation that just keeps getting the better of you?
Something God is calling you to, but you’re afraid to say yes.
The greatest battle you are facing just now, is where our Mighty God wants his power to make a difference.

The question is, how do you connect to it?

How do you plug into it, like you plug your mobile into its charging cable? Or how do you swap out trying to survive in your own power - like those rubbishy batteries - and swap them for the Holy Spirit’s Duracell power?
You stay connected to him all the time.
Not enough to be here once a week and plug in. It’ll help you, but it’s not enough.
Not enough to read the Bible once a day, and pray a bit, and stay charged up throughout the day. Like your phone, you’ll lose charge.
Like any other relationship, it’s about being aware your Mighty God is with you, and talking to him throughout the day. Little arrow prayers, show gratitude.

Our Mighty God wants to give you his strength and power this Christmas, especially in your toughest battles

So plug in and stay plugged in. Connect with him again this Christmas.

Next Steps

Advent Crowns

Gold paper crown shapes, pens, sellotape
Write on inside of them: “This Christmas, I need strength ...”
And make that your prayer. Put it on tree or somewhere you’ll see it, and when you see it, connect with our Mighty God and make that prayer again.
Our Mighty God is willing to answer with his strength and power.
