In the days of the Roman Emperor Nero, there lived and served him a band of soldiers known as the “Emperor’s Wrestlers.”
Fine, stalwart men they were, picked from the best and the bravest of the land, recruited from the great athletes of the Roman amphitheater.
.......
In the great amphitheater they upheld the arms of the emperor against all challengers.
Before each contest they stood before the emperor’s throne.
Then through the courts of Rome rang the cry:
“We, the wrestlers, wrestling for thee, O Emperor, to win for thee the victory and from thee, the victor’s crown.”
.......
When the great Roman army was sent to fight in far-away Gaul, no soldiers were braver or more loyal than this band of wrestlers led by their centurion Vespasian.
But news reached Nero that many Roman soldiers had accepted the Christian faith.
Therefore, this decree was dispatched to the centurion Vespasian:
“If there be any among your soldiers who cling to the faith of the Christian, they must die!”
.......
The decree was received in the dead of winter.
The soldiers were camped on the shore of a frozen inland lake.
It was with sinking heart that Vespasian, the centurion, read the emperor’s message.
.......
Vespasian called the soldiers together and asked the question:
“Are there any among you who cling to the faith of the Christian?
If so, let him step forward!”
Forty wrestlers instantly stepped forward two paces, respectfully saluted, and stood at attention.
Vespasian paused.
He had not expected so many, nor such select ones.
“Until sundown I shall await your answer,” said Vespasian.
Sundown came.
Again the question was asked.
Again the forty wrestlers stepped forward.
.......
Vespasian pleaded with them long and earnestly without prevailing upon a single man to deny his Lord.
Finally he said, “The decree of the emperor must be obeyed, but I am not willing that your comrades should shed your blood.
I am going to order that you march out upon the lake of ice, and I shall leave you there to the mercy of the elements.”
.......
The forty wrestlers were stripped and then, falling into columns of four, marched toward the center of the lake of ice.
As they marched they broke into the chant of the arena:
“Forty wrestlers, wrestling for Thee, O Christ, to win for Thee the victory and from Thee, the victor’s crown!”
Through the long hours of the night Vespasian stood by his campfire and watched.
As he waited through the long night, there came to him fainter and fainter the wrestlers’ song.
.......
As morning drew near one figure, overcome by exposure, crept quietly toward the fire; in the extremity of his suffering he had renounced his Lord.
Faintly but clearly from the darkness came the song:
“Thirty-nine wrestlers, wrestling for Thee, O Christ, to win for Thee the victory and from Thee, the victor’s crown!”
.......
Vespasian looked at the figure drawing close to the fire.
Perhaps he saw eternal light shining there toward the center of the lake.
Who can say?
But off came his helmet and clothing, and he sprang upon the ice, crying,
“Forty wrestlers, wrestling for Thee, O Christ, to win for Thee the victory” and from Thee, the victor’s crown!
.......
In the face of life threatening persecution...
One man renounced the Lord...
And another man...
Once and unbeliever...
Became a believer.
Vespasian saw the faith of the 39 other faithful wrestlers for Christ...
And he chose to give up the riches of this world in exchange for the riches of Heaven...
He choose to blessings instead of woes.
.......
Last week we talked about the blessings believers experience...
This week we look at the woes unbelievers experience.
.......
So, please turn your Bibles to the Gospel of Luke.
We will conduct our study in Chapter 6 and focus on verses 24 through 26.
Our message this morning is titled, The Woes
.......
This message today will focus on the next main section of Jesus’ sermon on the Plain...
Today we will discuss the four woes that are the direct negatives of the four beatitudes we covered last week.
.......
So, this morning we will cover four main points:
Woe to the Rich...
Woe to the Full...
Woe to the Laughing..
And...
Woe to the Popular.

Opening Prayer

Before we consider our text, please join me in prayer...
.......
Heavenly Father...
Mighty and awesome God who has no beginning or end...
We love and adore You.
.......
Help us see these woes we are going to cover today as a warning...
Help us to see that we never want to experience Your wrath...
And instead open our minds and hearts to your truth...
A truth that leads to eternal blessings.
.......
Thank you for your mercy and grace...
Without it we would all perish...
Thank you for opening the eyes of Your saints...
We know we don’t deserve You but You loved us anyway.
.......
Thank You for the gift of Your precious Son...
Who voluntarily gave His life for Your children.
.......
And it is in Jesus’s name we pray all these things...
Amen.
.......
Let’s turn to our text for today:

Reading of the Text

Luke 6:24–26 ESV
24 “But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. 25 “Woe to you who are full now, for you shall be hungry. “Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. 26 “Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.
So, let’s look at our first point...

1) Woe to the Rich

Verse 24: “But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.
So, the four blessings we covered last week are now followed by four woes that we will be covering today...
However, before we get to these woes...
Let’s talk about a key definition we will need to keep in mind as we study this section.
.......
The term “woe” often introduces a prophetic oracle of doom.
So, the woes refer to the experiencing of God’s wrath instead of his blessing...
Additionally, the Greek of the word conveys a deep and inconsolable misery.
So, this is no mere misfortune...
This is utter misery and torment.
Furthermore, the word “woe” is an exclamation of pain and pity for the misfortune that awaits someone in a certain condition.
.......
Likewise, theologian Darrell L. Bock says:
“The woes serve as a warning and a call of repentance to those who may be tempted to trust too greatly in wealth, comfort, popularity, and possessions.
.......
An attitude of independence from God is the road to destruction.
Its reward is fleeting, limited to the present.”
.......
Next, I would like to look at a more thought-for-thought rendering of this verse...
The NLT rendering of this verse is:
“What sorrow awaits you who are rich, for you have your only happiness now.”
So, the rich in view here are those who imagine themselves to be rich in the spiritual realm, who think that their righteous deeds are sufficient to obtain salvation.
.......
This woe is the parallel opposite of the first beatitude we covered last week...
That was found in Luke 6:20 which says:
Luke 6:20 ESV
20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
.......
This warning that Jesus gives in the form of this woes brings to mind a parable He shares later in His ministry...
That parable is recorded in Luke 12:15-21 and it says:
Luke 12:15–21 ESV
15 And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” 16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.” ’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
Many in this world claim to be rich...
In fact the world themselves praises these individuals...
They make them out to be role models to follow...
.......
Yet, it is not just material wealth we are talking about...
Many in this world believe they are rich because they have comfort and popularity...
They feel that they don’t need God...
Even going so far as to insult believers as being weak to believe in God.
.......
They have recieved their rewards on earth...
And they will have nothing of value to show in the life to come...
For they built treasures that pass away with time...
And the treasures that last forever they have foolishly ignored.
That is why James says in James 5:1:
James 5:1 ESV
1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you.
.......
The ones who are rich by worldly standards will be left with nothing while the ones who are poor in spirit...
They are the ones who will be filled in the end.
As Luke 1:53 says:
Luke 1:53 ESV
53 he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.
.......
Weather it be material wealth...
Popularity in our culture...
Or influential power...
The ones who look to worldly things for security are blind to the reality of there current status...
They are blind to how God sees them...
As Revelation 3:17 says:
Revelation 3:17 ESV
17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
Another ones of Jesus’ parables that drives home this truth is found in the tale of Lazarus and the rich man...
They are two people who lived very different lives...
They had different priorities...
They had different ambitions...
.......
In our society...
Lazarus's life would be witnesses as wasted life...
It would be viewed as pitiful and something to be avoided at all cost.
.......
Yet the rich man would have been honored by this world...
People would be trying to imitate their life after him...
As they too would want to experience riches...
And power...
And status.
.......
Yet all that changes once they both draw their last breath...
There is a reversal of the way the world sees things versus how God sees things...
So, let’s look at Luke 16:19–31 together as it says:
Luke 16:19–31 ESV
19 “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. 20 And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 21 who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried, 23 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. 24 And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ 27 And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father’s house— 28 for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ 29 But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’ ”
.......
Lazarus experienced the blessing with the rich man was the one who experienced the wrath.
The beatitudes we covered last week fit Lazarus’s life and the first woes we just covered fit the rich man’s life.
.......
This is a very clear and imperative warning...
Next, let’s look at the second woe that Jesus pronounces...
And this takes us to our second point.

2) Woe to the Full

Verse 25(a): “Woe to you who are full now, for you shall be hungry.
Again, let’s look at a thought-for thought translation of this verse...
The NLT rendering of this verse is:
“What sorrow awaits you who are fat and prosperous now, for a time of awful hunger awaits you.”
So, unlike those who hunger for a righteousness they know they do not have and cannot earn, they imagine that they have everything they need, and lack nothing
........
Last week when we covered the beatitudes Jesus said in Luke 6:21(a):
Luke 6:21 ESV
21 “Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
So, the ones who do not hunger and thirst for righteousness are under the wrath of God...
The ones who falsely believe they are full of the pleasures of the world and do not have a longing for God...
They will be the who truly hunger while in eternal suffering.
As God said through the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 65:13:
Isaiah 65:13 ESV
13 Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, my servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, but you shall be put to shame;
Are you filled with the luxuries of this world?
Are you satisfied with the cheap thrills this world has to offer?
Are you content with the standards of the world?
All that will change after the great Day of Judgement...
.......
Are you hungry for God’s Word?
Are you thirsty for God’s truth?
Are you anxiously waiting for the Lord’s return and for Him to Judge the world rightly?
Then your hunger and thirst will be satisfied...
And the Day of Judgement will not be a day of dread but a day to in which your old flesh becomes renewed and you experience glorification.
.......
How about those who laugh now?
What about them?
Let’s take a look at our third point.

3) Woe to the Laughing

Verse 25(b): “Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.
The NLT rendering of this verse is:
“What sorrow awaits you who laugh now, for your laughing will turn to mourning and sorrow.”
Please note this beloved...
Harmless or joyful humor is not in view here...
This is the kind of laughter that is boastful...
This is the kind of laughter that is saturated in self-satisfaction and sense of condescension...
This kind of laughter is a kind of rejoicing in the harm that others experience.
.......
The ESV Study Bible puts it this way:
“Woe to you who laugh now is not a condemnation of all joy and laughter, only the condescending, boastful, or mocking laughter of the callous, complacent rich, who care little for others or for God.
They shall mourn and weep when God’s judgment comes.”
So, this woes is to those who are smugly content with their religious achievements and superficial morality, they happily contemplate the eternal bliss that they foolishly imagine awaits them in the eternal kingdom.
.......
This woes presents the negative opposite of what Jesus said earlier in His blessings...
Look with me at Luke 6:21(b) which says:
Luke 6:21 ESV
21 “Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
Those who laugh today...
Those who find joy in other people’s sufferings...
They will not laugh forever.
The Word of God is clear that that kind of heart...
If they are unrepentant...
They will be the ones who mourn and weep for an eternity.
.......
Just look at the Lord’s language in Isaiah...
Just look at what it says in Isaiah 65:14:
Isaiah 65:14 ESV
14 behold, my servants shall sing for gladness of heart, but you shall cry out for pain of heart and shall wail for breaking of spirit.
.......
Finally, Jesus addresses the ones whom the world sees as superstars..
The ones who are Mr. and Ms. Popular...
The ones whom it seems everyone adores...
And this takes us to our fourth and final point.

4) Woe to the Popular

Verse 26: “Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.
The NLT rendering of this verse is once again helpful and it says:
“What sorrow awaits you who are praised by the crowds, for their ancestors also praised false prophets.”
.......
Additionally, the ESV Study Bible has another great note for us to consider:
“The fourth woe warns that, while true prophets were hated, excluded, reviled, spurned, beaten, tortured, and killed, false prophets were well spoken of, for they prophesied what people wanted to hear.
This is a warning against seeking the approval of the world rather than being faithful to God.”
Likewise, New Testament theologian James R. Edwards puts it like this:
“To place acclaim and reputation above discipleship to the Son of Man is actually to gain fellowship with the false prophets, who enjoyed acclaim by riding the waves of the status quo.
Luke does not regard universal acclaim a virtue.
Rather, the nature of one’s enemies—or lack thereof—is a critical indicator of one’s righteousness!”
.......
This warning is the parallel opposite of Luke 6:22-23 which says:
Luke 6:22–23 ESV
22 “Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! 23 Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.
Jesus is clarifying a truth that many do not want to admit is true...
To be friends with the world is to be an enemy of God!
.......
I am sick to my stomach when I see churches try to reach the world by acting like the world!
That is not what we are called to do!
We don’t live like sinners to reach sinners!
We don’t turn church into a circus so we can fill the pews!
.......
We may be in the world....
We may minister in the world...
And we may be all things to all people as Paul said...
But we are not of the world!
.......
Paul was all things to all people but he never compromised!
In fact, Paul was severely persecuted wherever he went as he stood boldly on God’s truth and refused to compromise...
And we are to do likewise.
.......
As James 4:4 says:
James 4:4 ESV
4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
You can’t have your cake and eat it too!
Are you Team World or Team Christ?
Are you going to have fellowship with the world or have fellowship with God?
Are you going to be loved by the world or loved by God?
.......
There is no third option...
Everyone has to make their choice...
So, what is it going to be?
.......
Ask yourself?
Are you seeking the glory that comes from men?
Or are you seeking the glory that comes from God?
You can’t have it both ways...
You can’t have a little world mixed with a little Jesus!
As John 12:41-43 says:
John 12:41–43 ESV
41 Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke of him. 42 Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.
.......
I really appreciate this note that I came across regarding this fourth and final woe...
The Baker Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament on Luke says:
“The woe serves as a warning to the disciples, as well as to outsiders, not to fall into the trap of courting acceptance for one’s message at the expense of truthfulness, an approach that will make them function more like false prophets.
Popularity at the expense of being God’s faithful representative is disastrous. The concept of Jesus’ message being unpopular is frequent in the New Testament.”
.......
Be warned, Beloved...
The world does not take to kindly to the one’s who follow Christ and proclaim His truth...
There is a pattern found in the Scriptures and throughout church history that the ones who speak God’s truth will be hated with a murderous hatred.
.......
Jesus warned about this throughout the Gospel accounts...
Just like He said in Matthew 23:29-36:
Matthew 23:29–36 ESV
29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous, 30 saying, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 Thus you witness against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. 33 You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell? 34 Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, 35 so that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. 36 Truly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.
Additionally, Hebrews 11:36-38 records this truth:
Hebrews 11:36–38 ESV
36 Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. 37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— 38 of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
The false prophets...
They will be praised by the world...
They will accumulate great followers...
For they preach and teach a message that tickles ears!
They teach about “Your Best Life Now” and how God is going to grant your every wish...
And the world just eats up that message...
Just because some charismatic speaking cult of personality has a TV program on a “Christian” network...
And just because their books are sold at “Christian” bookstores does not mean they have anything to do with Christ and His truth!
.......
Wake up, Beloved!
Popularity does not mean one is speaking the truth...
We have to pay attention to the substance of their message...
And see it it aligns with the Word of God.
.......
Now, as we wrap up this final point...
I would like to share this from the New International Commentary on the New Testament on Luke as it gives a nice summary of our whole passage that we just covered...
It says:
“Jesus next addresses those persons who do not follow Him, but who in self-righteousness and pride revel only in earthly possessions.
Again He means not all the outwardly rich but the type of persons who seek their life and happiness only or primarily in material things, who do not realise their souls’ need and do not acknowledge their dependence on God.
They are so self-exalted and so rich in their own eyes that they do not flee to Him, and thus remain spiritually poor and lost.
Because they labour under the delusion that they have no need of Him, they will starve spiritually.
And because in this life they take their pleasure only in earthly things, they will ere long (already in this life but in an absolute sense in the hereafter) experience the results of their inner emptiness and lack of real happiness.
Spiritual darkness and hopeless sorrow will be their portion.
Yes, even although they may enjoy the greatest degree of popularity among unbelievers, this will not endow them with real life.
On the contrary, when people are lauded by the unbelieving world, this really proves that such persons are not at peace with God—for only false prophets are popular with unbelieving mankind.
He who leads a truly holy life will come into collision with the sins of the ungodly and so fall into disfavour with them.
How clearly this was proved in the case of Jesus, who was in every respect perfect in His human life!
The unbelieving Jews repudiated Him, but subsequently, when false Messiahs arose, some of them enjoyed an amazing popularity among the masses.”
And as pastor John MacArthur says:
“There are only two kinds of people in the world.
Christ’s true followers, the spiritually poor, hungry, sorrowful, and rejected, cry out to God for pardon and mercy through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
They are blessed with eternal riches, satisfaction, joy, acceptance, and reward.
In contrast, those who see themselves as spiritually full, rich, happy, and accepted will be cursed with eternal poverty, emptiness, sorrow, and judgment.”

Closing Illustration

So, as this message comes to a close...
I would like to share this that I came across in my study this week:
Pliny, Roman Governor in Asia Minor in the early Second Century, was so puzzled about the Christians brought before him for trial that he wrote his famous letter to the Emperor Trajan asking for his advice.
This was the kind of thing he found himself up against:
.......
A certain unknown Christian was brought before him, and Pliny, finding little fault in him, proceeded to threaten him.
“I will banish thee,” he said.
.......
“Thou canst not,” was the reply, “for all the world is my Father’s house.”
.......
“Then I will slay thee,” said the Governor.
.......
“Thou canst not,” answered the Christian, “for my life is hid with Christ in God.”
.......
“I will take away they possessions,” continued Pliny.
.......
“Thou canst not, for my treasure is in heaven.”
.......
“I will drive thee away from man and thou shalt have no friend left,” was the final threat.
.......
And the calm reply once more was, “Thou canst not, for I have an unseen Friend from Whom thou art not able to separate me.”
.......
And that unseen friend is Christ...
Who suffered and died for His followers.
It is by the grace of God alone that we can stand up to hard persecutions...
And it is by Christ’s blood alone that we are able to be made in right standing with God the Father...
Christ’s blood that was shed on that cruel cross and Calvary.
.......
And it is now about Christ’s sacrifice that we bring our attention to.

Communion

As we begin our communion service, I want to invite every genuinely born-again believer in the room to partake in this act together.
If you do not yet know the Lord and do not have a relationship with Him...
Or if you are under church discipline from this church or another church...
Then I will ask that you wait until you have resolved your issue before participating.
.......
As you came in you should have picked up a communion packet if you are joining us.
This has both the bread and juice in a convenient package.
.......
If you have not received one of these please raise your hand and someone will get you one.
.......
Before we join in communion together, I would like us to consider Acts 2:23:
Acts 2:23 ESV
23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
I want you to understand this truth, Church...
This cruel cross...
This grotesque form of savage execution that was brought upon our Lord...
It was a part of God’s perfect plan from the very beginning.
.......
This was no accident...
This was no plan B...
This was a act of God’s love for us.
He love us that much!
.......
He knew Adam and Eve would fall...
But He created us anyway.
.......
He knew no man of woman could live up to the perfect standards He laid out...
But He created us anyway.
.......
He knew that the only one who could save us was His Son...
And He knew we would massacre the precious innocent lamb...
He knew we would rip His flesh and and abuse Him...
He knew we would torture Him and spit on Him...
He knew we would laugh at Him and hang Him naked on the cross...
He knew all this...
But He created us anyway.
.......
That is true love...
A love this world can never offer...
That is what we are celebrating today...
The love of God!
The sacrifice of Jesus!
The sacrifice of a pure and innocent Lamb in place of wicked and vile sinners.
.......
In the words of the Hymn, “How Deep the Father’s Love For Us”...
I will ask you to meditate on these words:
“How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.
.......
How great the pain of searing loss –
The Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.
.......
Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
.......
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life –
I know that it is finished.
.......
I will not boast in anything,
No gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His death and resurrection.
.......
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer;
But this I know with all my heart –
His wounds have paid my ransom.”
.......
So, Beloved...
Let’s all take a moment right now in silent prayer to thank the Lord for all He did for us...
(MOMENT OF SILENCE)
.......
Tom will you pray before we partake in the bread:
.......
The Word of God says in Luke 22:19:
Luke 22:19 ESV
19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
(TAKE THE BREAD)
.......
Adrian will you pray before we partake in the cup:
.......
The Word of God says in Luke 22:20:
Luke 22:20 ESV
20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.
(TAKE THE CUP)
.......
With that we conclude the communion portion of our service.
.......
To God be all the glory.
Amen.
.......
Please join us for one more song from the Praise Band.
