The Gospel of God Romans 1:1-7

Gospel = GOOD NEWS!

Separation to the Gospel (1)

Separated = divided, disconnected, to set apart for a particular service.
Some Christians are so separated that they are not showing or shouting their salvation to sinners or serving their Savior as a servant. (1 Peter 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” )
We are to SHEW FORTH (publicly proclaim!)
What about occupying until He comes?
Luke 19:13 “And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.”
Occupy = to employ one’s self in some useful labor, to carry on a business.
We don’t need to sit on the sidelines for the Savior! We need to get into the game! Don’t be so separated that you can’t serve!

Swearing of the Gospel (2)

Christ fulfilled over 350 OT prophecies of Himself while here on earth (will fulfill more in the future).
First prophecy in Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
Virgin birth (seed of the woman) Galatians 4:4 “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,”
Destroy the power of Satan (The Gospel Gives life!)
Hebrews 2:14 “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;”
1 John 3:8 “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
Galatians 3:8 “And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.”
From Melchizedek, to the ram in the thicket, to the “I AM” in the burning bush, to the passover lamb, to Psalms 22, 23, 24, to Isaiah 53, God PROMISED IN SCRIPTURE the GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST!
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

Subject of the Gospel (3-4)

The Gospel is about Christ!
100% man (seed of David) Matthew 1 ( Made flesh John 1:14)(MADE THE SEED OF DAVID)
100% God - DECLARED TO BE THE SON OF GOD
Power (Dynamis) Matthew 28:18 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
Purity (1 Peter 2:21–22 “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:” )
Persisting (Revelation 1:17–18 “And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” )

Sending of the Gospel (5)

Apostleship - “to send out”, There are no longer apostles (you had to be an eyewitness of the risen Christ) But we are called to be “sent out” to tell this good news!
Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”
Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Luke 14:21–23 “So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
We are to go everywhere, to everyone!

Saved of the Gospel (6-7)

Beloved = a person who is in a special, close relationship with another.
1 John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”
Romans 8:15–18 “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
Saints = one separated from the world and consecrated unto God.
Paul calls himself separated unto the Gospel in verse one, and now tells us to do the same thing!
Those that are saved should act like saints!

Solace of the Gospel (7b)

Peace will only come from the grace given by God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (also mentioned in verse 5)
Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” (SALVATION)
1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
Ephesians 2:11–18 “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.”
Philippians 4:6–7 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Romans 16:20 “And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.”
