----It Is Written----
Nine Instances of Jesus saying “It is written”
God Writes Important Things down.
Name Written-Luke 10:20 (NKJV) 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
Rev.20 The Book of liFe has the christians name written in it.
Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) 4 But He answered and said, “It is written,Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’
Matthew 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”
Matthew 4:10 (NKJV) 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written,You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
Written- write to describe - to write- scratch in the ground
Away With You Satan- move alond, depart, leave,
Romans 15:3–4 (NIV) 3 For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” 4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
Romans 1:17 (NIV) 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
1 Peter 1:15–16 (NIV) 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV)
9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
The Devil Uses Scripture-
Matthew 4:6 (NKJV) 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ”
Legalism- False Doctrine- false teaching- Cults -
Focusing only on several verses without interpreting with scripture in its intirety. Scripture taken out of context of whats surrounding it and what the rest of the bible says.
Jesus Counters the Devil- ‘Again it is written” Jesus uses more scripture to repel the devils attempt at luring Jesus into legalism.
Legalism- styrict, literal or excessive conformity to a few scriptures. Following a few scriptures to the letter at the expense of the bible in its intirity.
Legalism- traps, limits, binds the person and prevents them entering into the freedom jesus came to bring. truth sets you free- legalism makes you a captive.
How Should You talk to the Devil- Use Scripture- Tell him to get out of your way. Stop blocking my path forward. Luke 4:8 (NKJV) 8 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
Get behind Me- Stop standing in my way.
