Introduction:

Today we will partake of the Lord’s supper together, which significance is more than an ordinance, it is more than a Christian duty, it is a sacrament that we partake in that has spiritual blessings when taken in the right manner.
Indeed the meal we will take later today, represents to us that God’s dwelling with man is had through His blood. Hebrews 9 I believe by divine grace has fallen upon us today to see God’s dwelling place is indeed with man.
So let us now read Hebrews 9 and give a recap of where we have been and where we are going today.
Give recap of the letter leading up to this point;
Christ is above creation
Christ is the better High Priest
Christ is the fulfillment of the Abrahamic Covenant
Christ is the fulfillment of the Mosaic Covenant
Today we will examine Christ is the fulfillment of the Tabernacle shadows .
Up to this point in this letter it is very clear the Old Covenant is now completed and fulfilled in Christ. New wine is now being flowed out through Jesus.
God’s dwelling place is with man, the Tabernacle which was a blessings for the old covenant was a shadow of the greater in God’s original purpose which was to walk with man in the cool of day.
Because of sin, this separation which will we see will with the Tabernacle occured. Remind you it is still great mercy and grace that even such a beautiful place would be constructed for the Jew to have but a presence of the Lord in a place.
Let us now briefly examine the tabernacle

Tabernacle Examined

Exodus 40: 1-15
The Outside courts: The Altar of Sacrifice
The Candles to which the Priest would burn incense: Represents the prayers of the people of God . Psalm 141:2 “Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!”
The most holy place: Where the Ark is; where God presence was. No one but once a year could go behind the veil, other than the High Priest on the day of atonement. Now torn as man through Christ has access to God.
Douglas Stuart, in his commentary on Exodus (NAC, 2006), p. 572, brings out another nuance:
The tabernacle represented Yahweh’s house among the Israelites—he would soon encamp in his large house in their midst, and they would encamp around his house according to their tribes in concentric circles (Num 2). He himself was symbolically represented as dwelling in the “back room” of his house by means of the ark. In the tabernacle’s “front room” were several pieces of furniture, the sorts of things that represented the furniture of a home, though on a grander scale. The first of these pieces of household-style furniture to be described is the table. It was primarily for food—a dining table of sorts, symbolizing the fact that Yahweh really did live among his people and inhabit his house in much the same way that they inhabited theirs.

Death to Life *Reread V.27*

In adam death was brought into the world
In promise to Abraham, Mosses, David, salvation was presented and in part given
In Christ sin is atoned for; and the Resurrection is a promise. Today you can live in this promise.

Application

Walk with God and know He walks with you because of the death and Resurrection of Jesus
Pray always as Christ is our mediator
Partake in the supper which is our reminder and spiritual blessings of that which was in the shadows is not fulfilled in Christ and points us to the Resurrection of our own souls/bodies, to which we will dwell in the house of God forever.
