2 Peter 1:12–21 (NKJV)
12 For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. 13 Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, 14 knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. 15 Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease. 16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” 18 And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. 19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
Pray
Have you even been in a situation where you prepared ahead of time for your exit
A party (Make an Appearance)
Say high to all the right people (Person Hosting & Person Celebrated)
Do your rounds and get out the door
Maybe it’s TONIGHT
You are thinking “I’m only here because I have nothing to do on Thursday Night” or someone told me to come or invited me...
But once it’s over, Im outta there...
Getting off a flight
Getting your bags together
As soon as the seatbelt sign goes off you pop out of your seat and get up …to wait there
Or maybe an emergency Situation...
You don’t know when it is going to happen...
But you plan and prepare for the potential exit...
You do drills, run through Scenarios,
Make sure as many people as possible are aware of what they should do…in preparation for the day that will come when you need to exit...
That is What Peter is doing for us as he writes the books or letters of 1st and 2nd Peter...
1 Peter-
Be prepared for the Persecution that is going to come against the Church
2 Peter
Be prepared for the Poison (Ch2) that is going to creep into the Church
Be Prepared to Exit (Ch:1)
Prepare yourself by:
(1:1-11) Building your Character to withstand the poison (deception) that is going to come
Be reminded, Be Stirred and Be Preparer of others Yourself (1:12-21)

Be Prepared to Exit With Reminders:
For this Reason (Therefore):
V:10-11-
To Make your Call and Election Sure…
To be Supplied entrance to the Everlasting Kingdom
To have an entrance from something there has to be an exit from something else...
He is saying...”I want to Remind you that you need to be prepared and ready to Exit, life here on Earth to enter into everlasting life...”
Why Be Prepared...
Everyone Leaves This life...
But as it says in V:10- Be diligent to make sure your ticket is punched for the destination that you are wanting to go to.
I will not be negligent to remind you:
Though You know and are rooted in these present truths (Things I just told)
I am going to keep Reminding you!
It Doesn’t matter how mature you are, How much we “know”, or how much “spiritual “discipline or Self control “we think we have...
WE NEED People To:
Sharpen US
People that are going to Help us Grow
Spur US
People that are going to Help us GO
Spot US
People that Got Your Back
It Requires:
Humility- to KNOW you don’t Know- I need someone
Maturity- to Know you must GROW
Security- to Know you are Loved and to Be Vulnerable
So Many of us don’t have people in our lives Reminding us to be ready to Exit....
Because we are lacking
Humility- to KNOW you don’t Know
Maturity- to Know you must GROW
Security- to Know you are Loved and to Be Vulnerable
Who do you have in your Life that is reminding you?
We are meant to live in Community and Connection with others...
“The Church”- Isn’t Called the body of Christ for no reason...
Just like “Your Body”- When you head has an itch…Your hand Scratches it...
1 Corinthians 12:20–21 “20 But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.””
Crazy to think…”The Eye Saying to the hand…I have no need for you”
BUT THAT IS EXACTLY HOW WE LIVE-
Who do you have in your Life that is reminding you?
If the answer is no one,
I challenge you to pray, ask the Lord, who He wants you to Walk In
Humility, Maturity, Security
So you can
Grow
Go
Have some that’s Got Your Back...
2 Peter 1:13–15

Be Prepared to Exit, by Being Stirred UP:
V:13&14 As long as I am in this tent...knowing that shortly I must put off my tent
I have a life long Responsibility and I have an Urgency
The Responsibility: To Spur You on
To bring the best parts of who God has made you to be, to the Top; To Bring it up out of you...
Lemonaid or Orange Juice (With Pulp)
You shake it so you get all the good stuff
Bowl of Soup
You take the spoon and scoop up from the very bottom
Glass of Zipfizz
Get’s all tingly and the goodness of Zipfizz is activated
IT Requires WORK to Stir you up…to activate you for your fullest and Best Potential
But- When Stirred up- There is nothing better
Some of us have been in relationships where people have tried to Stir us up...
The challenge that was put before you was too hard or extreme
You have said “Im Out” ...”This Isn’t for Me” “Im Not Comfortable”
Mark 10:17-27- Rich Young Ruler....
What must I do to inherit Eternal Life...
Sell all that you have and follow me..
He Said “Im Out”
You mean I can’t buy my way?
Isn’t there an easier way…?

The Urgency: Life Is Short
Tent: It is an illustration that our body is temporary
You don’t camping for a lifetime…You go Camping for a weekend
Anything much more than that is not enjoyable...
Decease: (EXODOS)- His Departure, His Exit
Luke 9:28-36 When Jesus Is with Peter, James and John up on the mountain of Tranfiguration (40 days before the crucifiction)
When he tells of his departure from Earth....

Be Prepared to Exit By Preparing Others
When you have an eternal perspective yourself you live differently
Safety Training
After going through the training people began to think different
They have a perspective that is not only prepared for the end, that is Near
They have a perspective Different then others
were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

So they can and we can....
