Psalm 24:1–2
there is no “god” of the river. God who created this or that, god the earth, god of the sky, god of the sun. There is just one.
Deuteronomy 6:4 ““Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!”
He, this one, holds sway and has authority over all of it.
Psalm 24:3–6
Who can go up? Who can stand? Notice what Solomon does.
Action and motive. Hands & Heart.

That one receives.
But then he says Jacob. Jacob is the Jacob of Jacob and Esau, Esau who sold his birthright for a bowl of beans, Gen 27, Jacob who took part in so much deception, who struggled for everything he was blessed with, yet, he persisted. When he says Jacob, he means Israel that seeks Him. Jacob who wrestled with God. This isnt about the man, but nation that seeks his face.
think about it, Numbers 6:24–26 ““The Lord bless you and keep you; 25The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’” Are you coming after Him?
Psalm 24:7
Those in the gates, those who make war and protect need to receive the King at all times here he says all need to be ready.
Psalm 118:20 “This is the gate of the Lord, Through which the righteous shall enter.”
Psalm 24:8
Who is the king? Yahweh is the King. Psalm 97:6 “The heavens declare His righteousness, And all the peoples see His glory.” Haggai 2:7 “and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the Lord of hosts.” of course v10 also answers this.

Psalm 24:9–10
he isn't talking to gate. this is called personification. The gates were where those who protected and the doors being perhaps homes or individuals
He is at the door and will come in, Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
Lord of Hosts is the King of Glory. In 1 Corinthians 2:8 “which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
Jesus is coming Matthew 25:31 ““When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.” open the doors before he kicks them in.
we then segue into Psalm 25 where we learn repentance, forgiveness, mercy and grace.
Psalm 25:title–3
Being less or last doesnt mean we desire suffering or hurt. It just means we know that He is our all in all. David makes it plain that he doesnt want to be overcome but knows that we wait not on victory but the Lord.
Psalm 25:4–5
See the action words? Show. Teach. Lead. Wait.
teaching understanding the ways of God can only truly be seen in His word and lived out in the lives of His saints.
Psalm 25:6–7
When we ask him to remember we know our guilt.
Psalm 25:8–11
He teaches sinners the way to Him.
All the ways to Him filled with mercy, truth. Not coddling and pampers.
Obedience is and always has been part of the relationship. Deuteronomy 7:9 ““Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him AND keep His commandments;” John 15:10 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.”
Psalm 25:12–15
not the descendents of man, but children of God.
thats why we don't look at the world.
Psalm 25:16–22
Notice how David sees who he really is. not super awesome warrior king of israel. but desolate, afflicted. Trouble fills his heart.
As “popular” as David is, he has as many if not more who hate him more than love.
We don’t live in sin. Sin doesn't uphold us, doing right, being truthful with ourselves and Him is what brings.
It takes Elohim to do this. We cannot. AGAIN V22 Psalm 130:8 “And He shall redeem Israel From all his iniquities.”
