The Church Should Have:
The Church Should Have:
Servants –
In position - Paul and Timothy are called servants, not apostles. We must be careful to not think too highly of ourselves. We should find contentment to be known as nothing more than a slave.
In practice – Does every single person serve? I know it is easy for use to think that is someone else’s job. Are we even serving?
Saints –
We are positionally holy because we are in Christ. We have been united with Christ in his death and resurrection! There is nothing more that we can do to assure our salvation or status.
We must strive for holiness. One way we can grow in holiness is through the fruit of the spirit.
Offices –
Overseers:
God has given the church the office the office of the pastor/elder/overseer.
They are to teach, instruct, oversee, and shepherd (lead/protect) God’s people. (1 Timothy 3:1-7, James 3:1)
Deacons:
The church needs deacons to serve and care for the body. They allow the ministry of God’s Word to go forth with as little hinderance as possible.
They are the shock absorbers of the church. They are to promote peace and unity among the family of God. (Acts 6, 1 Timothy 3:8-13)

A. Grace –
We should be a place where we should each other grace when we are sinned against.
How can I do that?
Remind yourself of your own sins.
Take a step back before you react to the sin of others next time.
Remind yourself, that your personality is not God’s standard!
B. Peace –
We have peace with the eternally holy and righteous Triune God! There is no way to have peace with this God outside of Jesus Christ!
As a church, we should strive for peace with one another. That is one of the primary goals of the deacon, making peace.
The church leaders are desiring to make peace with God and man. We must not forget that goal. And unfortunately, there are times that we have to excommunicate members that reject peace.
Questions:
Are you ready to be a servant with a humble heart that thinks about others before yourself?
How are you living a holy life?
Are you willing to submit to the biblical design for the church
Are you known as gracious and peaceful?
