How to be Heavenly Minded and Still be Earthly Good

Why I want to go to heaven
Why I don’t want to go to hell
Rapture Readiness
Colossians 3:1–3 (CSB)
So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
What is your life?
James 4:13–15 (CSB)
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.”
Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring—what your life will be! For you are like vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes.
Instead, you should say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”
Our life is more than the few short years on this earth that we have to live…
Everything we do on earth has eternal consequences.
Philippians 3:17–21 (CSB)
Join in imitating me, brothers and sisters, and pay careful attention to those who live according to the example you have in us.
For I have often told you, and now say again with tears, that many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory is in their shame; and they are focused on earthly things,
Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.
He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself.
The Life we are living on earth is only a small part of what we are created for. The Church is not just a Sunday morning service, but and eternal institution that is being prepared for eternal reign with Christ as the head.
We are destined to spend eternity with God…
This is somewhat beyond our comprehension because we are tied to the earth, and our focus and our minds are often captivated by earthly things. Most of us don’t realize that our life is more that than the 70-80 years we have here on earth.
How we live our life here will have an affect on what we have there.
When we live in the light of eternity it will affect our lives and behavior here.
It affects the way we live…every action is recorded and rewarded accordingly. We will give an account for everything we did and didn’t do.
2 Corinthians 5:9–11 CSB
Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. Therefore, since we know the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade people. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your consciences.
Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to him.
The way we live...
What we do with our bodies…our vessel. Are we using it for righteousness and good or for pleasure and unrighteousness.
How we treat others…what affect are you having on others. Hurtful, offensive, and bitter or helpful, blessing, and fruitful. Are you letting them see Jesus or Satan? Mean or Kind…we will give account. Apologize, repent, restore, make right.
Our words…idle or productive. Are our words edifying and constructive or deadly and destructive?
What we do with our time…wasted, or used for good. Spent on earthly pleasure or to please the Lord. Rest is not wasted time, but laziness and sloth are. Work is not unproductive time but overworking for money can be wasted time.
What we do with our money…where is you treasure. What you support with you money. Money priorities are different in light of eternity. You can’t take any of it with you. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be good stewards, but what are we focused on. Living here or reaping there.
How does it look when we are living in light of eternity
We live in the fear of God what we watch, do, attend, dress, act.
We live to do the Will of God and pursue His purpose for our life. To please Him
We give and lay up treasure in heaven
We are looking for and awaiting His coming. Waiting for the day we are leaving here
We do all we can to impact others with the message of Jesus Christ...
